Topics covered

This section contains some of the basic science required to understand how capacitors and inductors are characterized - both physically and electrically.

Some of the theory contained in this section is a little complicated and only students on more advanced electronics courses (or more advanced students) should try to work through this section rigorously.

However, screen shots in this section that will give you a quantitative 'feel' for what capacitors and inductors are and all students will find these useful. For example: capacitors are measured in farad but how big is a 1 farad capacitor? Similarly inductors are measured in henries but how big is a 1 henry inductor?
