Simple Inductor

The simple form of an inductor consists of a length of insulated (enamelled) copper wire spiral wound. The winding may either be self-supporting with an air core or wound onto a ceramic or high-permeability ferrite core. Values from 100 nH to 100 µH are typical. Larger value inductors often use ferrite pot cores which provide a closed magnetic circuit with no air gaps.
