Mechanical Design Engineer


The Role:

Due to ongoing expansion, we are creating a new role for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can help us develop new products in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

You will join an established development team of engineers with responsibility for full product lifecycle development. Your specific role will be to help design and develop a wide range of products which support the teaching and learning of post-16 technical educational subjects such as engineering and science.

The role will involve many different aspects of development including feasibility study, user requirements, product design, manufacturing support, technical drawing and documentation, product testing, user support and marketing activities.

In addition, you will perform wider duties across our portfolio of products, helping to maintain existing products and working on new projects.

You will have some experience of using Solidworks or similar, preferably in a commercial environment. You will have a flexible and diligent approach to work, working equally comfortable under your own initiative and as part of a team.

We invite applications from candidates with a wide range of experience – from new graduates to practising engineers with many years' experience.

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential:

  • Degree or HND in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Experience with 3D CAD packages, preferably Solidworks
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • A team player

Ideal but not essential:

  • Industrial experience
  • Project management skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • An interest in electronics and/or programming

Salary / Benefits:

  • Up to £40k, depending on skills and experience
