Latching Momentary Switches - Example

Hi all, I wanted to have push button switches that would latch/unlatch in flow code, my result is below. It may be of use to others. Note: I've just written this whilst stuck in the hotel with work and not tested it on any hardware so use at you own risk..... :-) Also it's written for ECIO 40P since...

24 Channel LED control with PWM, TLC5947 SPI

Bit of a Christmas information donation. :-) I was looking at an easy way to PWM control lots of LEDs, I have tried a few of the chips in Texas TLC range and settled on the TLC5947. Under £3 from Farnell. Stuff I Like. > Uses SPI ( so I can use it on the same bus as the CAN board) > Minimal commands...

Re: RGB LED Component

Hi, I ran it in V5 , using ECIO 40P and using an LED board, so 3 LEDs rather than the 3+common of an RGB. I got the same 'inverted' logic you saw. Changed the polarity in the componet properties and got the expected bahaviour. But this I guess would only work with a common anode type RGB, I think :?...

Re: Alternative to 74HC244 extra digital inputs

Ahh fresh look today. 74HC541 looks like a go. > All inputs on one side, outputs on the other. > Schmidt input behavior (Hi State at 3.15V [4.5V Vcc] Lo State at 1.35V [4.5V Vcc]) > Enable pin (Pull pin Lo to Enable) > All pins are Tri-State when disabled (Off Bus) > Easy to solder SOIC Package (1.2...

Simulation - CAN Message Data Viewer

I play with CAN and also the legacy SPI components quite a bit. The SPI legacy has a nice feature that during simulation you can see what data is being exchanged. Would something similar be possible with the CAN? The CAN VNET has helped a lot but if you are struggling to get you system working as ex...

Re: Running of a Sequence of Tasks at a Defined Rate

Hi Enamul, Aaah thanks for that. Cleared that query up. Breaking it down A Timer based interrupt is set-up for 20Hz The Interrupt increments a Counter and rolls over at value 10. Thus the counter is incrementing at 20 Hz and rolls over at 2 Hz A flag called Scan is also set 'true' each time the inte...

Re: Component Storage

Hi, Thought I'd throw my system into the mix, took a few years to find a storage system that worked for me. Sample pots. Crystal clear PolyStyrene, 45ml volume, ~30mm dia and 70mm Tall. With Tough push on LDPE Lids. Took forever to find just the right pot and would comfortably take standard resistor...

Re: Keypad + 16x2 LCD Dispaly with 16F88/16F690 ?

Hi, From a relative noob like myself, it looks do able and without a load of pin sharing. (which would be a more pretty solution) 16F88 = 18pins take away the power pins, and two pins for a crystal, you have 14 left and need 13. The LCD and Keypad both need to have some of their pins grouped and on ...

Re: Trouble programming PIC 18F25K80

Hi, Bit of an update and info for others who get caught in this corner. New PIC18F25K80 fitted to board. EB006 programmer would not program this chip so purchased a PICKIT3 as suggested. I did not want to install all of the Microchip MPLAB IDE so went for the standalone program. "PICkit 3 GUI a...

Jonny, Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed response for those of us asking about 3D. I guess it is also a case of 'horses and courses'; Those that want a graphical visua...

PWM - Duty Cycle and Period Overflow Values

Hi, Just been playing around with the PWM and had trouble getting it working, this will be well known to most but for those that don't, just like me about 1/2 a hour ago... :) If you reduce the Period Overflow value to increase the PWM frequency... the output in hardware can go to a permanent logic ...

Re: Is LIN component LIN 2.0 Compliant ?

Hi Ben, Once you guys have resolved the issues, porting it to PIC would be great. Unfortunately most bits we are seeing are now LIN 2.0 (I see the official spec is now at 2.2!). I have a clunky alternative with limited functionality available, I think this is our best option for the immediate future...

Re: ECIO28P BootLoader Stall / Stop

Doh.. what a Prat!
on the ECIO28 RA5 is connected to 5v on the ECIO board, its part of the USB detect circuit.
For any other ECIO users, note this pin RA5 and MCLR pin are shared by circuitry on the ECIO28. All other I/O pins are free.

Re: RBG LED WS2812 Adafruit NeoPixel - anyone got it working

This guy did some great background work on the LEDs on his blog. https://cpldcpu.wordpress.com/2014/01/19/light_ws2812-library-v2-0/ Regarding the data timing Tims basic conclusions were; A reset is issued as early as at 9 µs, contrary to the 50 µs mentioned in the data sheet. Cheers Ben, Taken an hour to bash my way through but the following C code now compiles.. back at the office in a day or so and will flash it to an ECIO and see whjat we get in hardware. :) char count; for(count=0; count<=8; count++) { latc = 0x80; if(FCL_COLVAL&0x80) { asm { Nop } latc = 0x00; }...

Re: RBG LED WS2812 Adafruit NeoPixel - anyone got it working

The C code worked great.. had to play around the the 'Nop' commands to get the timing right. It does appear that the actual timing requirements are quite broad. Sticking to the limits previously discussed it works fine for me. Attached is a working test routine for an ECIO40P driving 8 neopixels. NO...
