Re: ECIO and Visual Basic

Hi Guys, I'm having another crack at Visual Studio / Visual Basic.Net I had some success with a small project on VB6 but times have moved on and so must I ... :) I'll probably work the new project with ECIO40P or ECIO40P16 devices... I noticed a thread with QMESAR on some issues with the ECIO40P16 e...

Re: Teach us to make us smarter :-)

Hi Guys, I must confess I often find myself trawling the forum, help pages and learning zone..trying to find an answer I know is there.... somewhere. :) Without knowing where to look, I too spent a while finding the basics like logical and bitwiz operators. I've also had to support products myself a...

Re: Interrupt and LCD or other devices on same Port

Yeah its working fine now I just have a single reference to each interrupt.
Thanks Martin.. sure can help sanity checking these things sometimes.
J.
EDIT: Yep, I already had a gentle low pass filter and pull down resistor on the input to avoid false triggers but good to be reminded!

i2C LCD Controller PCF8574 Address

Hi Guys, The i2C to LCD controllers available via eBay, they are great for controlling LCD displays via just 2 wires + power but little usefull info is given. A few tips that I've found when playing with them. Address The boards main i2C chip, PCF8574 actually comes in two flavours, PCF8574T and PCF...

Re: Sending 0 in Strings, using RS232 UART

Ha ah..yeah so many ways to solve these things. Even my data bytes are Bit flags and with multiple values packed into single bytes so the 11 Bytes was quite a big factor.
But as you say, more light is always good.. sometimes I get too focused on a problem to see another solution! Cheers martin. J.

Re: RBG LED WS2812 Adafruit NeoPixel - anyone got it working

An alternative.. I got my 8 NeoPixels working fine but have recently started using the APA102C leds, Uses SPI.. only MOSI and Clock, 5V, Gnd. Its really simple to drive and no special timing at all. Certainly an option for those on new projects and have not commited to the NeoPixels. They do various...

Re: dsPIC ECIO40P16 and internal CAN

Well Flippin' eck!! I might have learnt something tonight.. haha!! Leigh, I read out the C1CFG1 C1CFG2 C1CTRL1 and C1CTRL2 registers, displayed them on the LCD and compared them to the DataSheets. I toggled bit 11 of C1CTRL1 and its all working fine. :D Its register value CANCKS ECAN Module Clock So...

Re: SPI Master / Slave

Hi John, A) Just my 2 cents, as I've done something similar. Both PICs are the masters to their respective slave RF modules. So that's your SPI Master/Slave relationship. B) You do have a Local and Remote devices. So the end user may consider the remote device to be a slave of the master, but that i...

Re: SPI Master / Slave

Hi, I dont see any issue with the basic idea but you don't need a PIC to be a Slave SPI in your application. You have two PICs, each one is the master to a NFR905, this is the correct way to do this project. The NFR905 specification does not call for pull up/down resistors. I have not worked with th...

Re: i2C Expander PCF8574A Read Write and Acknowledge

Hi Rudi, Thanks for that reply, a great description of the 7 bit addressing. It did take me a while to work out the 7 bit addressing + Read/Write bit on a previous project I think I'm OK for this project. I'll have a look at the flowcode examples you posted and check everything again. More info on t...

Ah.... Well found the big error in my flowcode, for my i2C recived component macro.. I had not put in variable for the return byte. I had got the 'return' and 'Last' parameters confused. Suddenly it all works much better!! Haha! Data Line held Low after Read Byte OPeration I have noticed thou...

Zoom focus

Not sure if this is a bug exactly.. When zooming IN-Out of the main FC window, using any zoom method, The central zoom point seems to be fixed to Top and Centre (of the full width) This is most obvious with a FC diagram that is much larger than visible in a single window space. So if I'm working tow...

FlowCode Mini Conference / Exchange / Training

Just bouncing some ideas around, with FC7 being released it has brought it to mind again. All FC users are at different skills levels ( I think I'm clunking around the mid level! ) but I would love to make a concerted effort to push my skill level forward. This might be official Flowcode Train...

Yes, totally agree and something virtual could be a good, I must admit I seem to pick things up better face to face and get hands on with stuff (old school) but we'll see how the ideas progress. :D

Re: Improvements for Project Report creation

I admit its not often I would use it but very handy when trying to walk a customer or colleague through a program, they sometime want to be able to understand the flow code but dont have FC themselves, so an export to a compact printable format would be good. Personally, When learning, I've also res...

EB037 EBM001 GLCD - Easy layout of Labels and Values

Re: RBG LED WS2812 Adafruit NeoPixel - anyone got it working

Hi, I know its not a flowcode component but the following is an example extracted from a project that I used APA102C leds. They turn out to be pretty simple using an SPI component to push strings of data into the LED strip. My example is only setup for 8 LED and the LED data is hard-written to an by...
