Always ' Step Over ' Macro toggle for Simulation

Hi, In Simulation you can set toggle points, these are good. But stepping from the very start is still common. I have trusted Macro's that I always step over, since they are often pretty long and the behaviour is known. It would be great to be able to set an 'Always Step Over' toggle for such macros...

Re: i2c Keypad

I have also been doing my own thing with I2C ( PCF8574, PCF8574A) Keypads, combined with an I2C LCD it is a great 2wire+power debugging tool I add to most projects. If a Matrix Component was built to for I2C reading of generic keypads, it would be handy to be able to select the I/O assigned to the R...

Re: I2C help

Hi Jan, Foe me the bit I have to remember in i2C are, Pull up resistors on Clock and Data Line. Remembering its a 7 Bit Address + the Read or Write Bit. With my current project, the external ADC Chips i2c has.... The read/write bit is 1 for Read, 0 for Write. So if the hardware 7 bit address is ( 0x...

Re: 8bit Multiplication of 16bit values

Hi Doc, Ben has resolved my problems with the hardware, I was not correctly 'casting' values in some of my equations. With the i2C display Ben had to tweak a component but its all working now. What Ben described was that you need a ULong value to exist in the equation so that it would cast the resul...

Re: WebServer - Not all Strings Update.

Thanks Ben, Thats excellent. Good to know about the Index 0 and the extra couple of substitutions really help. Tried and tested on hardware, all works as expected. I only thought this morning.. If I really need to output quite a few variables, I just need to build them into a single long string. Obv...

FC7.2.0.5 Release Notes

Hi, anyone found any release notes detailing the fixes, features and changes for this latest release? I could not find anything in the usual places I would expect..

Re: WS2812B first project

Hi, Before Ben and the guys wrote the component for these, I played around with NeoPixels which use these LEDs. https://www.matrixtsl.com/mmforums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=16757&p=78652&hilit=neopixel#p78652 You will need a pretty quick PIC as the timing required for the LED relys on very sh...

Re: Long numbers

If .RANGE_OFFSET = ULONG .ADC_OFFSET = UINT .REF_RANGE = UINT To achieve this, .RANGE_OFFSET = .ADC_OFFSET * .REF_RANGE try, .RANGE_OFFSET = .ADC_OFFSET .RANGE_OFFSET = .RANGE_OFFSET * .REF_RANGE I found that to get the result of calculations properly applied to a ULong variable, you had to have a U...

Re: dsPIC PID Control Basics

No Hijack required!. I also need all the help I can get!
From my side. as I make progress, I'l try to post anything relavent;
I know the Matrix guys are flat out at the moment but for sure, some additional guidance on these areas would be great. :)

Re: V7 PIC LIN Components

Just to throw my two cents in.. Sounds like my role is similar to Jonathan and as another engineer in automotive, LIN would be good. My last potential LIN project was unfortunately LIN2.0 and could not get the device to work with the V6 component. My typical PIC target of choice was/is the ECIO40P b...

Re: WS2812B first project

Hi Angelo, Yeah, for sure a std Flowcode on/off routine will not be fast enough but the some assembler code inserted into a FC program, worked great. As for chip choice, I'm a big fan of the the little ECIO building blocks, the ECIO40P about £25 and the ECIO28P for around £12, great little 8 bit 18F...

Re: V7 PIC LIN Components

For myself, I would typically be looking to read existing LIN devices, manipulate and send data back out on CAN. So a LIN Master component would be most helpful.

Re: MIAC dsPIC - AV Input throwing error when compiling

Thanks Leigh, I must confess, I've been using FC on/off for several years and have dropped MIACs into a few projects as they seem like a great quick fix. However as constructive criticism, it does require a different approach and (unless i'm not looking in the right places) the user is left a bit st...

Re: dsPIC PID Control Basics

Found it!!!!! rough working example attached for anyone following along! If you want signed outputs... you need to use the signed macros for DSPOutput1 DOH! it was ReadAsByte changed to ReadAsSINT In the example below, I've changed all variable and macros to SINT (Signed Integer) types, I doubt its ...

Very simple example but none the less,
MIAC_dsPIC_Stepper.fcfx

shows a basic direct connection of a stepper to MIAC motor output pins.

Re: MIAC Input Resolution

Hi, So after playing around a bit, here is my notes on getting accurate AV readings into a MIAC. Testing was done with a MIAC dsPIC, using Analogue Input 1. Supply to the MIAC can be anywhere across the recommended supply voltage range. Taking a 8 Bit reading, 255 was reported when a voltage of 13.0...

Simple i2C - Single Byte read and Write

Hi, I am working with another obscure i2C based chip and made up some generic i2C macros, others may find these helpful, especially if your are new to i2C. I know there are loads of examples and you can instead use the ReceiveTransaction and Send transaction macros but I have traditionally done it u...

Ha ha, Yeah Thanks Ben, My brain kicked in over night and I came to the same conclusion. Attached is a simple working example for anyone following along. Re: CAN bus speed on dsPIC33EP512GM710

With every new 'paid for' release of (any) software, I always need to justify if the new features are of value to me. To fully upgrade my FC7 to FC8 is around 350GBP. I use FC in a mix of personal and some small commercial applications so I appreciate my position is different to some pure hobby user...

Re: Problem Programming 18F2580

Hi Ben, Sadly the chip is a SOIC type so I cant plug it into the programmer directly. A) I'll try shorter leads as suggested when I get back to the UK workshop (couple of weeks!) B) I may also try using a PICKIT3 as I can then make the leads very short. C) I'll also scope at the IC's pins and see th...
