Re: Using the FlowKit ICD Tool

1st you don't require Flowkit for Eb006 V7. Flowkit is only required for Eb006 V6 or any other programmer that's not Eb006 V7. So long as all config and osc settings are correct and the chip has been programmed with the flowchart you are using and the * does not appear on the top line of your flowch...

Re: ECIO and Visual Basic

Hello, My advice would be to look at the USB slave examples as part of the main Flowcode download. There should be a VB.net example in there that's fairly simple and ready to go. We also have a couple of articles that look at this functionality. You can find these from the learning centre section of...

Re: ECIO and Visual Basic

First. The ECIO (PIC 40) is a great module, allowing in the field program updates and would mostly be dropped into projects as a daughter board but some projects are very space sensitive and I need to have everything on a single odd shaped tiny PCB. Looking at the components of the ECIO, a replicat...

Re: ECIO 40P E2 (AN7) Pulled High.

Hello, Pin E2 is used for the LED on the ECIO and the autodetect for the USB. If you read the pin and the USB is connected then you will get a 1, otherwise you will get a 0. If you output a 1 to the pin the LED will light, outputting a 0 will clear the LED. The pin can also be used for external sign...

I/O expansion

http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/images/Article_NoStudent.png Many microcontrollers are now available with huge numbers of I/O pins. The drawback for most people is that they are only available in unusable surface mount packages. So the 40-pin, 4 x 8-bit port maximum limit still applies. Multiplexin...

Re: Switch - Active Low - Pull up

No - you need to provide the pull-up yourself (either by enabling the internal pull-up or by using an external one).

And yes, you will need to provide an external pull-down resistor if the switch is wired in the active-high setting.

Re: Slave USB Questions

Hello, A) ECIO_OPEN, the return 'status' value is 0 for a successful connection? Not specified in the help but seems to be this way. I seem to remember that this returned a 1 when connecting successfully. I could be remembering it wrong though if its currently working for you and returning a 0. B) U...

Comments and Strings

Would it be possible to 'comment' out an icon? As it is now I have to delete the icon(calculation, io, if) to test what if's. In other languages commenting is a common feature. Strings - As a newbie I am finding that working with strings can be painful when the received data(RS232) contain bytes wit...

Re: User comments in Calculations Properties Box

You can already do this using C-style comments like this:

Code: Select all

x=x+1    //increment x

There has been another book published recently based on Flowcode that you might be interested in: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22john+iovine%22+%22pic+projects%22 Bert's book is a great resource because of its quantity and breadth of examples and I'd recommend it to anyone who is moderately fami...

Is your Project Not working? Help and General Advice

Here are some basic solutions. First make a very simple 1Hz flasher, using an LED and something like 270R resistor in series. E.g: Loop while 1 A0=1 Delay 500ms A0=0 Delay 500ms If LED not flashing at correct rate (or at all) then check: A) All voltages are correct. VDD or VCC = +5V. VSS or VEE=0V. ...

Re: V5 Upgrade ?

Hi Jorgen

Just remember once you open a FC4 flowchart with FC5, you wont be able to open it again in FC4. So keep a backup.
Ive made a complete backup of all my FC4 files and archived them, just in case :)

Cool idea when working with small chips!!

I have been popping in and out small 8 pin chips from EB006 to my proto units and came up with a very user friendly way of doing it without the use of tools. Try it you will like it!! :D

Re: V5 ADC - error during compile

Hi Jay, I have had a look and I think I may have found what's causing the problem. Can you make a copy of PIC_CAL_ADC.c in C:\Program Files\Flowcode\v5\CAL or if 64 bit windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode\v5\CAL and replace with attached file. I'm not an expert like Ben so this is unofficial tem...

Re: ECIO with gLCD EB058

Hello, The EB043 does not use the hardware SPI and allows you to bit bang the data to it using any freely available I/O on your device. Refer to the datasheet for the EB043 to get the wiring and patch system setup correctly for your pins. The CAN component used to list the interrupt pin but the comp...

Re: SPI Legacy - Send String and Byte Arrays

Hi John, You can create a string variable in the variable manager and then use this just like you would a byte array. You could then pass this directly to the send string function. The difference between a byte array and a string is negligible and its more of a Flowcode syntax problem where the comp...

Re: Usage of Logical AND Bitwise AND

Hello. I would not do it this way - logical operators may implement branches or logic that is unnecessary for this specific use, or may result in odd behaviour when the code is optimised. For bitwise operations you could do any of the following to achieve the same result: Result = (Byte >> Shift) AN...

Re: ECIO Based Data Logger

Hi, You could use like a little data buffer in the ECIO to 'capture' a couple of messages and then write it on the MMC. I'm not sure how the MMC write/read process works, but I think writing multiple bytes one after the other is faster than doing it 1 by 1. I've played a bit with an I²C EEPROM and t...
