Re: If Decision Fails Flowcode 5

If you want to check one bit (bit 7) your if should be: ($PORTA AND 128) > 0 The other bits are: ($PORTA AND 1) > 0 - bit 0 ($PORTA AND 2) > 0 - bit 1 ($PORTA AND 4) > 0 - bit 2 ($PORTA AND 8 ) > 0 - bit 3 ($PORTA AND 16) > 0 - bit 4 ($PORTA AND 32) > 0 - bit 5 ($PORTA AND 64) > 0 - bit 6 The 'AND' ...

Re: Flowcode Training Videos

Hi John,

Yes unfortuantely the Flowcode v4 videoes are only music (or mostly silence in the later ones!) we do wish to improve and update them at some point, by adding annotations and making them HD, (im not sure we will venture down the voice route just yet).

Hi John,
Attached is how I detect which switch has been pressed.

It's the easiest way I can think of.

Re: PORT B sending sequence

Hi everyone, I need a little guidance on how to address sending out bits on Port B to control 3 functions with out turning off actions that were in the lower Port B settings. Hi John, One way is to use masking techniques. Basically you AND with a value if you want to clear bits and not affect other...

Hi John, If you go to: http://www.microchip.com/maps/Microcontroller.aspx You can select 18pins min and maximum: more mem1.png Then following microcontrollers will be displayed: more mem2.png As you can see the order shown is in order of memory size. The only way of know how much memory code uses is...

Re: Odd Files

Hi These are created by flowcode or the c compiler during the compilation process of the hex code. It goes through several stages to get to a hex file. They are basically the system temp files (for the want of a better description :) ) The file ending in .001 is a backup of the fcf file. i.e You sav...

Re: URGENT help on PIC16F1827

Hi John, I have not used the DB9 to PC converter for TTL compatible voltages so I can't advise on that sorry.
I will have look on the net to see if it can be used.I will let you know asap.
I agree with Brendan as I have used FTDI and Silicon Labs TTL to usb converter.

Re: URGENT help on PIC16F1827

If your already using programming pins to control relays etc. then best to connect to a pin thats not in use. Yes you can use any of the RA pins so long as they work as an output and nor open collector (unless have a pull-up resistor connected). For example. All you need is an additional header pin ...

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Martin should I or better phrasing your skill ad in RS232 or leave it to the LCD ? I like the LCD. That is up to you. They both have advantages and disadvantages. with RS232, you can print a lot of information at once and use free serial software like realterm hyperterminal. You can make the fonts ...

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Hello,

There is a LCD wiring guide here which should help.

I really like these to look at but they are a fair bit more expensive then the bog standard models.

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Hi John, don't forget the 10K resistor (not shown on the diagram) between VPP of programmer and VPP of 16F1937.
Without current limiting, 16F1937 could get damaged.

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

If it's for a device like 16F887,16F88,12F675 etc, programming VPP is is specified as between 10 and 12V. This is what the vpp will be on pickit2, so the circuit above will apply if you have external MCLR which is not necessary if say a reset switch is not required then 10K from VPP to +5V is not re...

Were do I place the code for MCLR to be internal ( Main Page ?) JLeith wrote:With Port D flashing won't that cause a problem when we go to bit bash the adding in the Servo action ?

It was only meant to be temp until you get the switch action working and port D lighting up correctly. when that works the loop used for testing D can be disabled.

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

I don't know if you realize but all of port B is set to detected on rising edge (pins on chip diagram are in red). For this to work as intended you will need to change the pins to a grey colour. To change from rising to falling edge, you will need to double click on the interrupt, then select proper...

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Hi John, If that power supply is not up to the job either, then it could be a hardware fault or software design issue. Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Hi John,
At work which is where I modified flowchart, so not tested it on hardware.
Be home at about 5.30, so I can send flowcode to target & see what is going on then.

Can you load a different version to check, as it could even be a power supply issue?

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Hi John. Attached is an improved display version. Nothing I can't get the 1937 to pick up the PortB bits. Since we have established that A3 line on hardware was High when it should have been low, the attached version uses B7 to clear rather than A3 You will now know at the start of segment changes, ...

Re: Like to read Port B then send to Port D

Hi John, Yes it was an odd fault. The 16F1937 could not pull down on C1 (Sink) , but could source. The cause could be trying to pull down a 5V supply? Anyway as per request via PM, I have guess at what an extra 5 deg would be. If this don't work, then perhaps the other way would be to use a pot to s...

Hi John, Looking at your hardware circuit, you wont need an SCR if you use a double pole relay You can use the other pole to latch relay.
