Re: Programming with MAG3110 Magnetometer

Thanks Enamul :) The MAG3110 is a popular well-specified 3-axis magnetometer (AKA electronic compass) with a host of control registers to suit a variety of applications. New to Flowcode myself I had over-simplified the task somewhat, so started off by simply focusing on reading the ID register to in...

Select-Create Custom Sequence

I am relatively new to Flowcode so forgive me if I've overlooked anything obvious, but would like to suggest the following... Select-Create Custom Sequence: I realise that you can create custom Macro's, but for sequences repeated throughout the process flow it would be so useful to simply be able to...

Re: Select-Create Custom Sequence

Thanks Enamul. Embedded code is something I've not really had the time to 'get into' before, particularly as I professionally manage software/hardware developers who do this for me. A poor and lazy excuse I know, but my interests in embedded were recently inspired by the development of a personal pr...

Re: Watch variables not working in ICD

Hi Benj. Though early days, it looks as though the offender was a PIC configuration setting, namely 'Extended CPU Enable' (enabled in PPPv3 by default) - which I take is the extended instruction set bit applicable to the 18F4680 in my case. I can't tell you the time I've spent also trying to figure ...

Re: Significant GUI issue with PPPv3 bundled with FC v5

Hi Evan. Definitely something else on mine, further confirmed today while I was trying to resolve a PIC configuration issue using PPPv3. Not only were many screen resolutions tried in addition to text sizes, but aspect ratios as-well - none of which made one jot of difference. Most of the advanced f...

Re: Two network boards with one EB006 and 16F887 ?

Hello Ben. Thank you very much indeed for your advice and recommendations, and I'll certainly grab a few of those PICs you recommend. Fortunately, for professional test equipment development, I have the luxury of not having to worry much about hardware costs (particularly as Flowcode and eBlocks sav...

Re: Programming with MAG3110 Magnetometer

Thanks to everyone showing interest in my post, but I've sussed it and working just fine now :D I would however suggest better coverage of I2C in the help. If you code in C then a review of the code helps users establish what's going on. However, Flowcode is all about providing embedded accessibilit...

Re: Advice Sought: Flowcode V5 with ICD3 ?

Thanks James - noted :)

I recall when 0805 was regarded 'really small' - but that's just showing my age :(

...And now 01005 (AKA 'pollen') !!!

Re: HELP PLEASE: Flowcode V5 and Internet Board

For the possible benefit of others, I can happily confirm that taking OPMODE-2 (pin 65) high on one of the two modules resolved this issue, as suggested above. We also returned the reset to an available/unused channel on the EB023 level-shifter (via unused module header pin) and returned that to por...

Re: Flowcode/e-blocks on TV

I've just picked up this thread, and regrettably missed the programme myself. As a UK resident and regular BBC viewer (the treasured haven from the insufferable commercial assaults of lesser channels), I've just completed their contact form to inquire if they could extend availability of the origina...

Re: Ultrasonic Transducer Module Car Alarm

Hello Acestu. The strategy is sound and should certainly improve matters, though I would personally combine microwave and ultrasound to secure a vehicle cockpit. My comments regarding ultrasonic sensing were based on a brother who used to fit them for friends and colleagues in the days when vehicle ...

Re: Measuring AC Mains Voltage (Non-Invasive) help needed

Hi Jordy. First, the isolation circuit is sound, and the relatively high resistance value for R2 should afford adequate protection against mains spikes. Worth mentioning that unregulated transformer supplies employ a bridge rectifier feeding a reservoir capacitor providing a smoothed DC output, and ...

Re: URGENT help on PIC16F1827

Hi John. I had a little more time to review your code and I think I discovered a possible problem. When you first start the code, Port B is initialised as an input and awaits button press. However, after executing the Ball function, the loop does not expressly return Port B to an input in preparatio...

Re: Converting EB005 display control to I2C

My original issue has now been resolved and the I2C display now working in native Flowcode (after a critical header byte value was corrected  )

My particular thanks to Jac (Kersing) for taking the time to dig out and PM some well-written example 'C' code :D

Re: interface

Hi Benj. Really nice job on the feature-set, and the pluggable chip packs into the same app is a great step forward :D Notwithstanding settings I've yet to discover, a lot of the appearance features (for me) add clutter in the IDE and detract from the simplicity of getting the code done. It would be...

Re: Is this a good regulator.

An old post but for reference... Inductor selection is relatively complex for these types of regulators. The buck mode regulator first charges the inductor in series with the load (transistor on), the ramp current speed determined by the value (reactance) of the inductor. When the charge path is rem...

Re: Soldering paste

For future reference... We use a variety of solder pastes at work, though all internal boards and prototypes are commonly soldered with leaded (i.e. NOT Lead-Free) paste. For all prototyping applications I would strongly recommend avoiding lead-free paste, both for optimal reflow wetting and possibl...

Re: Add your own component catagories to the toolbar

Hello Dazz. This information is very useful for my particular purposes, so thank you for your time to post. Re: Add your own component catagories to the toolbar

Hello Acestu. Yes, it still works, though the current category list is different from the beta version related to Dazz's original post. To keep things simple for starters, I copied one of the categories that had no sub-categories (was the DSP I think - third one up from the bottom of the list). Sele...

Re: Basic Compiler Error - Any clues?...

Hi Jonny. Many thanks for this. I ran the installer on the work XP desktop which then threw up a major clue, this being that overzealous McAfee AV heuristics misidentified the patch as a security threat and killed the installation mid-way. This could equally have disrupted the original installation ...

Re: Decision Question

Hi Acestu.

I'm sure I'm missing the point (apologies in advance) but if specifically to check all values were zero then you could simply add all vars together and check for zero in the result.

Re: ADC reading higher voltage than Vdd?

Just came across this thread while browsing. For general future reference, the +0.3V above Vdd and -0.3V below Vss relate to absolute maximum limits governed by protective diode input structures, and has nothing to do with functional performance. To guard against input spikes and ESD in general, MOS...
