Re: floating point

Hello,

What target devices are you using? Most devices are straightforward but 8-bit PICs require the use of the functions available from the calculation icon. The calculation help file should help you to understand the floating point functions.

If you Click on the 'variable Name' Wording, it will sort the variables out in alphabetical order. a- z. If you click on the 'variable Name' Wording again, it will sort variables out in reverse alphabetical order. z- a

Re: EB008 Quad 7 Segment Display Board examples

Hi Steve, There are two things you can try. 1) In view, Global options, set the overriding language to English. 2) If That don't work then download the full install of latest version (V4.3.7.63), as the update patch I believe had a bug. Alternately you could post the flowchart you are experiencing p...

Re: somthing gone wrong but don't know what

I did state some things that could cause that type of communications issue here:

Have you tried just unplugging and re-plugging in USB lead to programmer?

Re: assembley for pic micro's V4

Hi Steve,

From the looks of it you are using a 64bit machine, there are problems with 64bit machines and ASM for PICs, however there are fixes available.

Please check this FAQ topic: http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/support ... ?f=9&t=678

Re: verification of pic code

You can use PPPv3 to extract the program from the micro and then save it as a HEX file. Then you can use a file-compare tool to see what differences there are.

But this is not guaranteed to work as there may be subtle differences between the HEX files that make file-comparison difficult.

Re: verification of pic code

Hello,

Is the LCD on a ribbon cable or on flying leads by any chance? I think someone posted on the forums a while ago about how to condition cables over a few cm to allow the LCD to work.

Re: LVP & ISP VIA ICD2

Hello, I rarely bother with LVP anymore as you loose the functionality of the Low Voltage detection pin which is normally right in the middle of Port B. If you can get 12V onto the board anywhere or your programmer can supply the 12V then I would scrap the LVP altogether. Also if you are going to be...

Re: E-blocks internet board EB023

Hello,

Sorry this was caused by a bug in the recently improved "also bought" mechanism. The product is now available again via the products page.

Hi Steve The link to the board from the e-blocks page does seem to be dead The data sheet is still in the support section though. http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/eblock_datasheets.php#EB023 Its a nice board, I've played with it a bit Supports UDP/ TCP-IP / Webserver though not sure about telnet If y...

Re: Crystal selection advise required please

Hello, Regarding crystals you must remember that the pic will run at 1/4 of the crystal speed and then things like PWM will run up to 1/4/16 times slower. If your using Flowcode then the LCD timings will always be correct as long as you enter the correct crystal speed into Flowcode. Otherwise you ne...

Re: Run out of outputs

You could use an MCP23S018, 16 bit I/O expander using SPI (there's also an I²C version of this chip).

Cheers

Re: Run out of outputs

I did a similar thing using a 74HC595 (8 bit serial in, serial or parallel out that works up to 100MHz). It was used to drive a seven segment display. I still have the flowchart for that. Let me know if you would find it useful, and I will post it. All it does is convert a serial input using 3 pins ...

Re: Run out of outputs

Hi Steve For expanding the outputs of a micro, you could also use HC373 or HC573 (Octal 3-State Non Inverting Transparent Latch) instead LS273. Pinout is the same: LS273 CLK = HC373 LATCH, LS273 RST = HC373 OE. The Latch when enabled, can be used like the CLK input of LS273. Please take a look on th...

Re: Run out of outputs

Hello, The circuit shown on the link below works great if you need more I/O pins and are using a LCD display. The LCD component c code will need to be altered but I think I have an example of this tucked away somewhere. Let me know and I will have a dig for it. http://www.rentron.com/myke1.htm This ...

Re: Run out of outputs

Hi Steve, Here is the component C file for v4. The clock is tied to DATA1 and the Data is tied to DATA2 in the Flowcode component connections. The other connections shown in the connections window are not used by the component code so can be used by other components etc. Make sure you make a backup ...

Here is a copy of the LCD portion of the schematic for my board. The pins going to the microcontroller are the traces marked LCDK (clock) and LCDD (data). Note the supply pins (8 and 16) for the 74LS174 device are not shown but are connected. sch1.jpg R10 and R11 should ideally be replaced with a pr...
