16F877A - TWO FUTABA SERVOS AND USART

Hello all, I’m working on a project using two Futaba servos with programming based on an example found in this user forum. The servos work fine but the example program uses all of port “C” on the 16F877A. My problem is that I need to use the USART function for RS232 communication and it won’t functi...

Re: 18F1230 UART Issue

Hi Ben I hear what your saying about the hyperterminal situation, it’s strange that it didn’t work when it was chip to chip communication either. I will play with it some more, but the file you uploaded must have been made with FlowcodeV4 because I can’t open it with my FCV3. Can you upload a ...

Re: 18F1230 UART Issue

Ben I did some more testing and found that A0, A1 and A4 (pins 1,2,3) will not except inputs but all other A and B port pins seem to be ok, the LED requiring an external input work. Also if I remove the button from the program and replace it with an RS232 input the program runs very erratically if a...

Re: 18F1230 UART Issue

Hello Ben I tied A0 to the negative rail with a 10K res no luck, tried A1 as an input as well with the same result. I also changed the config settings with both these inputs and it always worked like before, the LED in the program that dose not need the external input to operate worked fine but the ...

Re: 18F1230 UART Issue

Hello Ben

I did not tie anything to ground, I usually don’t and haven’t had problems before but I guess there’s always a first time. Do I need to tie all unused pins to ground or just the ones I’m using as inputs.
I have attached the requested files for you to have a look at.

Re: 18F1230 UART Issue

Ben, I did some more testing and I have a situation with the 1230 where anything in the program that does not require an external input works. I put three different messages in a program, two that would work without any external inputs just a short delay between them and one requiring an external in...

Re: 18F1230 UART Issue

Hello Ben Sorry for the delay in replying, after updating my profile I was temporarily locked out of my account. Thanks for the help, I made the changes you suggested including switching out my 8MHz crystal for a 4MHz. I still have the same problem with seeing the communication happening between my ...

18F1230 UART Issue

Hello, I’m using the 18F1230 and having problems with the RS232 function. I have tried various chip compiler settings ex. Int/ext clock source at different frequencies and baud settings. No matter how I set it up it fails to work in the real world, the setup is TTL to TTL. I’m using Pickit 2 to ...

Help with 18F1230 Compile failure

Hello all, I'm looking to get some help for a little problem I’m having with a compile to Hex operation. I have narrowed it down to two component macros, the program simulates perfectly and I have built the board to mount the 18F1230 along with other programmed chips I’m using for a project but ...

Re: 18F4458 And FlowCode V3

Ben, Thanks for the FCD file. I have changed it a little so it seems to work with FlowCode V3 but when I tried to test it the operation fails when trying to compile because PPPv3 does not seem to have the 18F4458 in it’s config data files. I went to the web site but could not locate an update for ...

Re: 18F4458 And FlowCode V3

Hello all, Well FlowCode 4 is out but I do not see an FCD for the 18F4458 as Steave said and I have been keeping an eye on this post but have not seen any further reply from Sean on an FCD. If any one has one for the 18F4458 I would sure like to see it if posible. Thanks for the help

Re: RS232 Master Slave Setup

Thanks for your input guys! , Daniel I appreciate the time you spent making changes to the fcd files. I’m using one of my 3 breadboards for another project at the moment but I did test the master and one slave as uploaded, and It seems to work like a charm, great!. I’m going to look at the addi...

RS232 Master Slave Setup

Hello, I’m not good at programming yet but working on it, that’s why I bought FlowCode v3 hoping it could do it all. But as I found out after using it for a while and checking the posts it turns out that it has limited RS232 capabilities. I learned it was mainly setup to program a master chip to...

Re: 18F4458 And FlowCode V3

Yes your right, I should have paid more attention to the pin out on the 16F677 data sheet. I was looking at the USART block diagram, which refers to the pins as TX/CK and RX/DT like my 877A. I think that’s where I went astray, the pin out for the 677 clearly shows only SDI/SDA and SCL/SCK. I will ...

18F4458 And FlowCode V3

Hi, This is my first post and I have an easy question. Has anyone been able to work the 18F4458 into FlowCode V3? I have this chip and would like to use it in my FlowCode Pro V3. I searched the forum but found nothing on this chip. Also does someone know why FlowCode does not seem to know that my 16...
