PIC24FJ256GL406 chip on FC7 or FC8
Hi, Due to the chip shortage (and other unmentionable reasons), a shed load of PIC24FJ256 GL 406s were procured instead of the PIC24FJ256 GA 406 that we use as standard. Both FC7 and FC8 do not support the GL version. Is there some way to "cheat the system" to get code for the GA version onto the GL...

Re: Ghost not active on BL0032
Hi Ben, Thanks for getting back to me. I'm running 8.2.2.16 on the laptop and 8.2.1.13 on this desktop. Yes, I did a complete FC7 reinstall on the laptop last week and applied the fixes at that time, and have now applied then here too. The fault remains in that when the BL0032 is connected the ICD a...

Ghost not active on BL0032
Hi, I am not able to get Ghost, on a BL0032, working on FC8 so I've reverted to FC7.3.0.7. The problem experienced here is that the Ghost feature isn't recognized, i.e. ICD and ICT icons are not active although the BL0032 is recognized as the target and it is possible to download a hex file to the P...

Re: Bad mistake in FC8!
Hi, I stopped using FC8 for most of last year because of the Windows 10 shutdown problem. I started using FC8 again on Tuesday and experienced the problem on Wednesday. I was on version 8.2.1.13. I loaded 8.2.1.14. but I see version 8.2.2.15 is available. Can you supply a link to the new version ple...

Re: Problem with Ghost running on BL0032
Hi Ben, Thanks for the response. Please see attached. Test RS232 Comms GHOST.fcfx I'm using port pins B0, for the LED flasher, and F0 and F1 for the UART. I'm assuming that programming will be on pins B6 and B7, but i don't know which pins are being used for the ICD. I've also tried different ports, ...

Problem with Ghost running on BL0032
Hi, I'm using FC8.2.1.13 (with latest updates) to program the PIC on a BL0032 16-Bit dsPIC programmer using the BL0032 as the target. A simple flowchart consisting of a LED flasher and a "Hello World" compiles, loads onto the PIC and works as expected, i.e. LED flash timing and baud rates are all go...

Re: RS232 data corruption
Hi Martin, Yes, I misunderstood the alt pin usage, but included it in the test because it was there. I think there are still many little (or big?) things that I don't understand about the intricacies of FC. I found a copy of my project (on a different PC) that didn't have all the UART and SPI connec...

Re: RS232 data corruption
Hi Martin I hadn't even thought about doing that sort of adjustment. I'll get hold of an oscilloscope and give it a go. The confusing thing is that I've done several projects using FC (all of which included serial comms) and so far haven't experienced any baud issues. I'm seeing the current problem ...

Re: RS232 data corruption
I'm using 9600,8,N,1, no flow control.
Unfortunately I do not have an oscilloscope available.
BTW, I forgot to mention that a "Hello World" gets through to the terminal emulator just fine.
Regards.
Leo

RS232 data corruption
Hi, I installed FC8 recently and experienced the same issues as those experienced by mnf. I uninstalled and reinstalled FC8, without success and then followed Daniels advice which resolved the problem (https://www.matrixtsl.com/mmforums/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=21435). After experiencing some problems w...

Re: PIC24 Internal CLocking
Hi Martin, Thanks for the response. I've edited the file and can now set the clock speed to 96 MHz, but unfortunately even when selecting the 96 MHz PLL x 24 option the system clock seems to be running at 32 MHz, i.e. frequency measured at OSCO = 16 MHz. I've had a look at trying to set up the inter...

PIC24 Internal CLocking
Hi, I would like to run a PIC24FJ256GA406 at 96MHz using the internal FRC Oscillator with PLL. One issue is that FC7.3.0.6 will not allow a Clock speed(Hz) setting (Build\Project Options\General Options) of anything above 32MHz, for this PIC. As the datasheet states that the "default divisor of the ...

Re: PIC24FJ256GA406 UART Rx Interrupts not working
Hi Ben,
I've used the new CAL file and channel 5 now works the same as channels 1 through 3. I unfortunately can't test channel 6 just yet, due to the set up of my PCB, but will let you know if I have any problems.
Thanks for the fix.
Kind regards.
Leo

Re: PIC24FJ128GA202 problems reading 25AA02E48 EEPROM - resolved
Hi Leigh, An update on the above. I have listed some things we found out regarding the WIZ810MJ module's effect on the SPI buss in another post. It seems that the buss select chip on the Wiznet module stopped the SPI buss from functioning as required, With this chip removed, the Eeprom is read relia...

Re: Using SPi Master (EB013) and TCP/IP (Wiz810MJ) Components - Feedback
Hi, Some feedback on this issue. The problems experienced were caused by the buss select chip U3, a SN74CB3Q3257, on the WIZ810MJ module. With this IC removed and the SPI lines connected through, Flowcode has no difficulty, whatsoever, in reading reliably from both Eeprom and WIZ810MJ SPI devices on...

PIC24FJ256GA406 UART Rx Interrupts not working
Hi, I'm using FC7.3.0.6. to program a PCB that utilizes a PIC24FJ256GA406. I use UARTs 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 and need the Rx Interrupts on each UART. On a loopback test, UARTs 1, 2 and 3 trigger their Rx interrupts when a character is received, but UARTs 5 and 6 don't, although they do transmit character...

Re: Wiznet WIZ850io module
Hi Ben,
I think getting the source code for the WIZ810 component would be a great starting point. If you could let me have that, I'll give it a full go and hopefully be able to contribute to the User Component forum soon.
Regards.

Wiznet WIZ850io module
Hi, I have used the Wiz810MJ Ethernet Offload Module on an in-house PCB and, with the additional macros Ben wrote for the component last year, this has worked well. There have been one or two minor issues that are attributable to the module itself, but these have been worked around in software/hardw...

Re: Wiz810MJ not receiving the full TCP data packet - solution
Hi,' I have tried many different approaches to solving the data loss issue and found that a delay added in just before the RxDataAvailable macro (see flowchart) achieves this. I have no idea how the macro works but it appears as if the W5100 rx buffer stops? receiving data when being accessed by the...

Re: Wiz810MJ not receiving the full TCP data packet
Hi, Further to the post above, I posted a similar question on the Wiznet forum and the reply from Eugeny Brychkov is as follows: "Persistent connection assumes TCP, and you know that under TCP no data is expected to be lost by the protocol design, however it can be omitted due to incorrect data flow...

Wiz810MJ not receiving the full TCP data packet
Firmware for a Wiz810MJ based Ethernet to serial converter PCB was developed using FC ver 7.3.0.6. The converter appeared to work well, but during 6 months of on-site testing some communication errors were experienced. A Windows based test app showed that a communication error occurred after every f...

Re: Using SPi Master (EB013) and TCP/IP (Wiz810MJ) Components
Hi Leigh, Thanks for the reply. I'm using a PIC24FJ128202, but my design uses one SPI buss to communicate with both a Wiz810MJ and an EEPROM, with each having their own (different) chip select lines. There are no pins available to run separate SPIs. I was hoping to be able to initialise the EEPROM (...

Using SPi Master (EB013) and TCP/IP (Wiz810MJ) Components
Hi,
I am using the SPI Master (EB013) and the TCP/IP (Wiz810MJ) components to communicate with different SPI devices on a PCB. Could this potentially cause some communication problems?
I ask because I am experiencing some issues that I can't explain.
Regards.

Re: PIC24FJ128GA202 problems reading 25AA02E48 EEPROM
Hi Leigh, Thanks for the reply. The EEPROM is a 6-lead SOT-23 device which physically does not have the Hold Input pin or the Write-Protect pin, I assume this is taken care of internally. All other pins are connected and being used. I have done a bit of a work around in that I now do a soft reset at...
