HPACT DataSheet Errors

Post by medelec35 »

Just got my HPACT board back out and looked at the datasheet.
Thought I will point out some errors in the datasheet:

1)Supply is mispelt.
2) Data sheet states recommended 5V.
Is That figure taking into account the single diode?
Since about 5 -.7V will be available.
The board screen print shows +6V which contradicts the 5V mentioned.
3) Data sheet mentions that polarity is not important as a bridge rectifier is fitted.
The circuit diagram also shows a bridge rectifier.
My HPACT board is same as the the board pictured on the datasheet (and here which does not have a bridge rectifier fitted.(unless bridge rectifier is an obsolete board?)
It just has a single diode fitted in series with +ve supply connections.
Therefore supply can't be any polarity
If the bridge rectifier is fitted now, then picture of HPACT is out of date & the other datasheet with a single diode should be available.
Also if the bridge rectifier is fitted the voltage drop will be even worse as there will be two silicon diodes in series.
So voltage supply to motors will be 5 - 1.4 = 3.6. voltage drop will be worse at higher currents.
Finally the optocoupler is different on my board in respect to the circuit diagram, so perhaps the older datasheet (if available) will be correct?

Thanks Martin,
Indeed, all of the photos are of a version 3 board, yet the technical data and schematic are for the new version 4 board - I'll pass the info on to our marketing department so that we can bring everything up to date.

Cheers,
Steve.

You're welcome Steve,
Is it possible to add a datasheet for V3 board as well please?
As I currently have got one of those.

Thanks

I'll put that one to our marketing/website guys too, it's a timely request as they're canvasing for ideas at the moment. Frankly, we've realised ourselves that our web presence really needs a good spring clean, and that includes trying to get to grips with our version control. Hopefully that'll mean far fewer slip-ups like the ones you just pointed out, and an opportunity to re-arrange all of our learning materials and technical doc's to make it much easier for you guys to get your hands on the info you need.
Cheers.
