E-paper display

In the last Elektor magazine November/December 2016 [1] the e-paper display has been described more in detail. A picture of that display can be found here [2] and another hyperlink gives also information [3].

That will be interesting for a future E-block! The first question is if the microchips are capable to handle all that pixels? The Elektor display has 264x176 pixels.

Hi Jan,

The display looks nice, if you get a price quote then I would be very interested at the unit cost.

A Flowcode component to drive it should be easy enough though I'm not sure the quantity of demand would be there for an E-block.

I have a Netatmo thermostat with E-paper and its so clear and crisp.
The Good thing with e-paper is you can update it with a new writing/image then remove supply and writing/image should remain for a very long time.

The Elektor display is E1271CS021 of Densitron http://www.densitron.com/. There you will find also kits for this display with e.g. USB connector for PC uses.

Looks interesting

They have a 4.3 inch e-paper display on Amazon of all places for just under £50. Bulk price from a wholesaler would drop that by quite a bit I expect.

Cool Components in the UK have a 2.7 inch for £33.00 (Non in stock ) Usable with Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
