Variable List

Post by jimhumphries »

Steve/Ben:

I seem to spend a lot of time scanning the Variable Manager list for the variables I want to use or edit and, as far as I can tell, there is no particular order in the way they appear in that list. Listing them alphabetically would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

You can click the apparopriate column title to order the variables by name or type.

Steve:

Thanks - that's great. I didn't realize I had that option. Any encouraging news on floating point for PICs?

Regards,

Jim

You can do it at the moment using some C code (but it won't simulate) - there is a post somewhere about this.

V4 will have floating point for PICmicros. Sorry, but you'll have to wait until then.

Hi again,

On the original post it was pointed out that the variable list can self sort. This is good but unfortunately every time the list is opened the sort has to be carried out afresh. I find this repetetive when I have long macro names and the alphabetical list goups the macro variables together so I can select them (for speed and to avoid errors). Could I suggest alphabetical sort on name as the default listing?

Thanks,

Mark

... or at least retain the sorting order until it is re-sorted.

....and if you are watching a particular variable whiles running a step-by step simulation, tha damn thing will move about in the list - has anyone noticed this?

And it's a similar problem in the list of macos/subroutines. It's longwided to find the macro you need to check/edit.
