Jump resistor with I/O ports

Post by Klipeti »

Can I use 1ohm jump resistor with I/O ports or any other ports? I don't have 0ohm jump resistors.
Goal is to make clean looking circuit board, plain wire would look stupid in middle of other components.

That depends on the load. If there is no significant load the voltage drop will be minimal and you're fine using 1 ohm.

Ok thanks. I think that I just get 0ohm resistors -> better sure than sorry :)

Just thought I'd mention that the limited output current of an I/O port renders effective source resistance typically around several tens of Ohms. This can be determined by the quoted output voltage drop versus output current for high and low conditions in the electrical characteristics of the device datasheet.

Consequently, an additional series resistance of 1-Ohm would have no bearing under any circumstances. :)

All the best,

Brendan
