OK, thanks to the help from the forum members my project is somewhat closer to completion. The C and Hex compiling all seems to be working fine.
However, when I try and burn to the chip,16F690 (using PICkit2 and Low Pin Count Board) it appears the program is not being loaded into the chip.
The PICkit2 programmer Power, Target lights are on and the Red busy light flickers as if it is programming the chip?
So I'm thinking I have configured the chip incorrectly. I have attached a screen grab for somebody to look at and kindly point out what I have set up wrongly.

Default internal 4MHz clock. (see datasheet FREQUENCY SELECT BITS (IRCF))
