If i send with the Icon PM example a PM to David / in my User Control Panel are three folders..

-> Inbox
-> Outbox (1)
-> Sent messages

The Outbox (1) is then the message now going out or must i do more?

No. The outbox will stay at 1 until the pm is read by the recipient.
Then the 1 will disappear.
