Compiler settings

Post by john_m0ers »

Hi, apologies if this has been covered before.
I am a registered pro user with several processor groups.
I haven't used fc7 for some time, but tonight decided to have a go at something. It was just a simple routine to display a message
on an lcd eblock.
Upon compiling to hex, I got a message saying that xc8 was running in free mode, and therefor not optimal.
Could someone please explain what I need to do, as it did used to work.
Thanks, regards john

Hi John,
Compiler will be running in free mode as that is shipped with all Flowcode versions 7 and above.
If you have got professional version of Flowcode then you will be licenced to use it at work, even though the compiler will be in free mode.
If you want the professional version of XC8 compiler, then you will have to purchase it from microchip (or their distributors).

Hi Martin,
Thank you for clearing that up, I haven't used FC7 for some time. Last time I had problems with flowcode the compiler settings had gotten corrupted somehow, and I thought this had maybe happened again. Especially as I had to un-install mplab which uses the same compiler (I think).
Much appreciated,
john
