Hi,
Generally, when you buy a 1wire device does the 64 bit ID code come with, be itit on a piece of paper or whatever?

Hi Matt,
Yes I think the ID comes pre-programmed to ensure it is unique.

Re: 1wire Devices
Hi Ben,
Yes but does the ID COME WITH IT within any supplied literature?
I will need to find addresses for approx. 14 devices (not all temp sensors).
The reason I'm asking for is that their are a couple of chips out there which have an onboard search algorithm for 1 wire devices - for simplicity do I need to incorporate one of these into a design. or can I physically type in an address against a location in a GUI?
Thanks

Re: 1wire Devices
It would be total madness that every chip coming to production line in a roll would have thousands of tiny confetti papers with them. You have to use some kind of onewire discovery algorithim to find the ID of the chip.Docara wrote:

In one card i've seen there was a buffer used to "cut" all other sensors out from the network and then the board was automagically finding which one of the sensors is referencing which connector... (and those isolated-buffers were so easily blown, that card had very short lifespan).
We had a student make a "1-wire discovery" device with LCD and a ZIF socket, LCD was showing the one connected sensors's ID number to help troubleshooting.
Maxim has documented this search pretty well:

Ill just keep the good work up!
