Flowcode 8

Post by jgu1 »

Hi MM team!

I see that in few days that you release Flocode8 :D Look forward to test and update. But, before I buy, I would hear:

In FC8:

Have you used all the component all the AVR, Pic, CAL and FCD ect. from FC7 in FC8? (to avoid bugs).
Is FC8 based and build up around FC7?
Do you have a price for update FC7 >Fc8 Pro single user?
Can I still use my EB programmingboard V9?

Or do we/you start from scratch again. I mean can we expect in FC8 here in the start lot of bugs and errors in FC8

Kindly request

Br Jorgen

Hi Jorgen. Here are some answers...

Yes - Flowcode v8 is build upon v7 and a lot of the components remain the same or have slight improvements. We have been internally testing for 2 months and the BETA has been externally tested for over a month. We can't guarantee a totally bug-free release, but we have had comments back from our BETA testers that it is more stable than previous Flowcode releases. Plus we now have the ability to update components, CAL and FCD files on-the-fly meaning it will be easier to apply any fixes and improvements.
jgu1 wrote:Do you have a price for update FC7 >Fc8 Pro single user?
Existing v7 users get a 50% discount on all v8 features they have bought as part of v7. Also, features and chip-packs in v8 are cheaper than they were in v7, but there are a few additional ones, so the cost of a full v8 licence is similar to v7.

Yes - all boards that could be used in v7 can also be used in v8.

v8 - looks very interesting..

Particularly the code-folding/layout options.

The pricing will be a major decider for me - only been using v7 for less than a year - may have to wait for v9.

I'll probably succumb to temptation and upgrade the key components that I use most - the rest can follow on as I need them (though Raspberry Pi programming could be very tempting too!)

Now downloaded!

The 'Buy now' (upgrading) page is just blank though!

First impressions are pretty good - 'tis a pity that the 'free' version doesn't allow you to access all the components?

Martin

+ the code folding works great!

- Some of the default colour combinations are a bit off (Try 'dark' pseudocodes white text on a light grey background and the yellow 'connections' with hand drawn icons in 'light mode') These are probably subjective - and can be tweaked....

Thanks for the comments, Martin.

The "buy->upgrading" page should work ok. This is the link for that page: https://www.matrixtsl.com/flowcode/buy/ ... /index.php

Maybe it's a cache issue (try a "hard refresh" - control+F5). If that doesn't fix it, please tell me what browser you are using.

You can gain access to all components for 30 days using the trial.

Regards,
Steve.

- it's there now thanks....

.. and gone again. Going through 'Buy' ' Upgrading' (logged in). Maybe a 'load' issue on the server?

Choosing a free licence and, say, adding a UART component gives 'You do not have a valid licence' All the components are marked with a yellow exclamation (except a couple of switches and the RGB Christmas tree!) - Using 30 day unlock sorts:-)

How long is the upgrade offer available?

In the past, the upgrade offer from previous versions of Flowcode has no end date and I assume we'll be doing the same thing this time.

There is a temporary issue with buying on the website. I think if you log our of your account on the Matrix website and then try to buy, then you will be asked to log in and then it should work ok.

We will try to get this fixed as soon as possible, but the workaround above should work for now.

Thanks. We've had a similar report and temporarily deleting the cookies from our website seems to fix the issue so you might want to try that.

Otherwise, please wait a few hours and we'll try to get that fixed this morning.

Actually please ignore my previous post. The problem seems to have been fixed.

If it's still a problem, please try a "hard refresh" in your browser (control+F5) to fully reload the page. If that doesn't fix the issue then please let me know.
