To use MIAC expansion (addon) modules you need to select
Project Options->MIAC (dsPIC) System
Then add a "dsPIC MIAC" to the panel
Then add MIAC Addon modules to the panel
I've attached a simple example.

Yes, that's it, use the CAN connections on hardware.
The LED flash test will prove it's all connected correctly
