Flowcode closes...

Latest windows update went through last night...

Now Flowcode v8 opens and then closes after splash screen and home page opens (briefly)
Only shows as a background process in Task Manager.

Strangely - opening some projects (by clicking on the project in start menu) - results in the Property Window being displayed - after Splash and Home open - and project opens (macros - displayed, again briefly) before the main window closes leaving Properties hanging around..

Any suggestions before I reinstall? Was working AOK last night.

Curious - this message seems to have posted twice (judging by my new messages page) - any one else see this? - two new topics created at identical time (with same message and heading) - changing message in one doesn't affect the other however.

And finally back...

Uninstalled and re-installed and still closing. Opened a project and closed apart from 'start' page and 'properties'.

Opened a project from start page and back in business - no idea what went wrong?

& something aint right...

Open a project (after fresh install) and CircularBuffer has no properties or macros.

Run updates (~CAL_UART_String only) and restart - and back to closing on start ((program loads then FC dies)

Hi Martin,

Sorry for the slow reply. Could you try clearing your registry settings as described in the following post? This should be more effective at "wiping clean" than simply re-installing.

We may never know unfortunately. It sounds like Windows Update has done something which may have either:

1) corrupted the registry settings for Flowcode (unlikely in my opinion) or:
2) changed something in Windows itself which means that your current Flowcode settings were incompatible (maybe something to do with last-known screen placement or some such), and Flowcode has been unable to handle the error.

Either way, deleting the registry has set things back to "true default". If the problem re-occurs then please let us know.

Once again please accept my apologies.

A little tip and a workaround when Flowcode closes again.
As described above, delete the registry, reconfigure FC8 and then export the FC8 registry path.
When this problem reemerges, simply import the reg-file (double-click) and it will run again.
At least for me it has worked 3x until now!

Looks like this issue is not confined just to windows 10.
I just clicked on the X of a Flowchart and got:
