Formula AllCode In a Straight Line?

We've been getting on fairly well in the classroom with the Formula AllCodes using App Inventor, but find when asked to move forward it's not always in a straight line, usually veering slightly off line.
From the documentation it reads like this should be automatically corrected, anyone else experienced this and got any suggestions?

The logo-like commands are calibrated and so the robot should move in a straight line when using the "Forwards" and "Backwards" commands.

The "SetMotors" command drives the motors directly and so a number of factors such as a differences between the motor's characteristics will cause it to veer off-line.
