USB cable is not connected

Post by Spanish_dude »

Hi,

I recently bought a new netbook (HP Pavilion dm1) as my previous one has a BSOD...
- 32 bit OS
- Windows 7

Installing Flowcode v3 and the driver went well.
I tried using PPPv3 to detect the PIC on the multiprogrammer, but I always get the message "USB cable is not connected". This message also appears when trying to send the hex file from Flowcode.

I disabled the suspend settings of the USB by doing :
- CONTROL PANEL | Power Options
- click on Change Plan Settings for the plan you want to change
- click on Change advanced power settings
- disable USB selective suspend settings

Also, the programmer is being detected and I can see it in the device manager.

What's the problem ?

PS: I need to fix this ASAP, I still need to end my school project.

Hi,

Sometimes windows shuts off the boards to save power on newer laptops/desktops.

Try this:

Control Panel >> System >> Device Manager

Find the hardware listed, sometimes under Custom USB Devices:

(Right-Click on the device) Properties >> Power Management >> Untick - Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Let me know if that helps

I think that's already done.
I'm going to check that right now.

EDIT:

Just checked again and it wasn't done :o , my bad.
I didn't test it but I'm pretty sure the problem is solved.

Thanks David ;)
