offers
Matrix is now the proud owner of Locktronics which is
used in over 10,000 schools worldwide. Locktronics has simplified electricity
for students of all ages and abilities, allowing them to construct a working
circuit whilst seeing the corresponding circuit diagram simultaneously.
Over the coming months, we will be developing and
updating the product range. Please contact us for information on prices and
student kits. We would love to hear your views, suggestions and feedback at

Adding USB
functionality to your projects
In this months Knowledge
Exchange, we explore how to add
USB functionality to your projects even if there is no driver or host
application. Once you have downloaded the Flowcode USB pack, we explore how
this can be used to create a HID Joystick with analogue X, Y, Throttle and also
Digital POVHAT and 4 Button controls. We demonstrate how the computer will
still be able to correctly interpret the data.
The Flowcode USB pack allows
for communications between a PC and a USB enabled PICmicro device to be
established and utilized in a very simple manner. The Pack includes three new
Flowcode components to provide three different methods of connecting to a PC via
USB. read

Why Flowcode Student/Home users should turn Professional and use the USB pack
The
student/home licence version of Flowcode is a great tool for starting
out with microcontroller programming, but it does have limitations. The
code size is capped and components such as RS232 and Graphical LCD do
not produce code. These limitations are removed by upgrading to a
Professional License.
The price
of the upgrade is simply the difference in price between the student/home and
the professional version. There has
never been a better time to convert. Upgrade before the 31 December 2008 and receive an ECIO 28 pin USB reprogrammable microcontroller on us.To take advantage, contact your dealer. You will need your licence details.

Reviving serial COM
port functionality using Flowcode
Computer manufacturers have now started to withdraw the
serial COM port interface from their motherboards along with a lot of the original
software support. In this Knowledge Exchange
article, we demonstrate how the Flowcode
USB pack can be utilised to recreate
your COM port interface using USB without the need for a dedicated converter chip. This also means that
you can write extra functionality into your code such as hardware flowcontrol.

have been around for a long time and have been built into a wide range of
electronics devices.
