The FPGA solution combines the speed and power of the Altera Cyclone IV series FPGA devices with the simplicity of E-blocks to provide five full 8-bit E-blocks compatible I/O ports. The FPGA is programmed using Altera's Quartus II web edition software via a USB blaster cable from Terasic. The FPGA device used is a EP4CE10E22 which has 10320 macrocells and 414Kb of RAM. The board also features a 4MB configuration device allowing the FPGA to auto start with the user last program on power up or reset. Full course notes are available.
