Our successful BETT journey

With the rise of programming as a part of the national curriculum in both Computer Science and Technology classes from a very young age, last year Matrix decided to develop a solution which could easily deliver teaching and understanding in this subject area at secondary school level.

From this, Flowcode S.E was born. By using our existing graphical programming software, Flowcode 6 we were able to write a suite of curriculum in disciplines including robotics, pneumatics, simple microcontroller circuits and computer science and control in order to give teachers in secondary school the confidence to deliver a course that will inspire and interest their students.

Last week we took our solution along with a whole load of projects we have developed to show teachers the capabilities of what is possible, to BETT exhibition at London’s ExCel Arena. BETT is one of the largest technology exhibitions in the World with hundreds of exhibitors showing the latest developments in their technologies and tens of thousands of visitors from across the Globe trying to seek out the best educational solutions for their schools and colleges.

The show was a huge success for us. It gave us the opportunity to speak with hundreds of school teachers from across the UK as well as a number of opportunities to offer Flowcode S.E in other countries, too. We’re already developing the curriculum workbooks in a number of different languages and the software is available in multiple languages, too.

The picture below show’s a number of year 7 children from a UK school based in London taking time to look at the robotics solution we had on our stand at BETT – our Formula Flowcode robot buggy with Bluetooth application built into a make-shift football pitch went down a storm!
