Wealth of education in the Middle East

Recently, we took a trip out to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to meet with a number of Matrix partners and distributors at GESS exhibition. The exhibition itself was held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

For the past few years, we have been working with Sahara Medical and Scientific Supplies with some really promising results. Education is high on the agenda in the Arab countries. The sheer wealth of these nations is evident from many of the conversations I had during my week there. During one conversation, I found out that a particular school based in the city of Abu Dhabi, only an hour and a half drive from Dubai don’t even set budgets for the academic year. Their philosophy is that if the technicians and teachers require particular equipment, they can have it, no matter the cost. All that is needed is a sound justification!

The Middle Eastern market is also very receptive of products from the United Kingdom. Like in many international markets in which we operate, we find that the excellent reputation of our own educaitonal system stands us in good stead.

We were also able to make a number of new connections during our time in the UAE. There are a number of likely projects we will be invovled in as a result of our visit, too so all in all it was one of the most enjoyable and beneficial trips I have undertaken during my 18 months or so working with Matrix.
