Re: Help with modbus addressing-Solved

there is a standard - I will put something together later for you

modbus was developed in 1979 by modicon for there PLC's and is widely utilised

have a look at Modbus.org

Re: Help with modbus addressing-Solved

Hi Viktor Modbus is perfectly at home in an electrically noisy environment I would loop in and out of each slave (maybe start at the top) depends if you going to add more sensors and which end you will add them. Start configurations don't work very well and may not even work at all if you wire at th...

Hi Victor

Glad it working for you now.

Noticed that your loop is wired incorrect though (unless it's how you have drawn it)

Re: Please help with modbus addressing

[quote="viktor_au"] Steve: have you tried reading N15 & N16 on there own Node 16 works alone fine. Master reads Node16, if the register address = 0 (40001). However if I use Node15 with register address = 0 (40001) than Node16 accepts the message and returns the message to Master, but the data is wr...

Re: Please help with modbus addressing

Hi Victor

if you are using this board for each slave then you will have two termination resistors fitted (R7)

can you remove one of them (or both and fit one externally ) ?

Hi Victor The Modbus slave(s) - can be many devices connected to the loop these have holding registers 40001,40002,4003 for example 40001 Temperature 40002 Humidity 40003 Barometer they also have an address 1 - 255 the master sends a request message to read a register from a slave device slave addr ...

Hi Victor To add to bens post When node N16 is connected, the node N15 goes into 'No Replay' mode. are the addresses / settings correct ? have you tried reading N15 & N16 on there own do you have a wiring error (A & B crossed) have you got the termination resistor installed do you have multiple resi...

Hi Maybe a bit off topic slightly. Currently at work I have seen in the past couple of years, finger print scanners have gone away from turn styles to gain access these have been replaced by hand geometry scanners with a card that you present upto a reader - presume this is a RFID card. https://en.w...

Afternoon All, https://www.matrixtsl.com/webshop/e-blocks2-splitter-board.html Dose this PCB do what I think it dose as the schematic not that clear A port that connects to the programmer PCB (J1) 4 ports that are wired in parallel so you can connect 4 devices as long as you port the pins correctly ...

ECIO40P IOC

Morning All

Using IOC 0 & 1 on an ECIO40P, is there any gotcha's to be aware of?
On my ECIO sometimes didn't pic up the change of state

Program is a test rig that detects two relays changing state then records the voltage that the relay has changed

Re: pic controlling a relay

Hi Bob, Latching Relays usually require more current to energise / reset due to the fact they have more mechanical mass to move and this has to "Mechanically Latch" itself into position. If you increase the coil resistance, by placing a resistor in series you may find that the relay wont latch prope...

Hi Bob ive now got hold of a couple of relays which have 167 ohm coil resistance but my problem still persists, ive also shortened the delay times in the program to try to make the switching quicker and there is a slight improvement but the relays are still killing my circuit what I would do next, 1...

Re: pic controlling a relay

Hi Bob, just a suggestion have you seen these batteries - small and compact 12 V have used it in a project it also has a mate the A27 size similar to a AA. The A23 gave a reasonable service life in my project and I did have a 2 x 16 LCD Display powered. Although the A23 Ah is lower than the PP3 @ 30...

Hi Bob Most of the breadboard PSU things from Ebay (I am presuming the ones that pick up the power supply rails at each end of the board with a DC jack in the centre or on one end) Most have a max current of around 250mA, there are some however rated at 500mA & 750mA if you dig around further howeve...

Hi Bob, Can I add a slightly different approach .. have you tried a constant current generator ? - maybe set at 10ma and measure the voltage across the unknown device Then using ohms law 500 ohms would give you 5 volts. This dose also depend on your lower level of resistance too 100 ohms would give ...

Re: RS485 Battery Stack and Common Ground

Hi George

I would look at these to isolate the battery voltage and prevent a back-feed through the micro and shorting out your batteries.
Its easy done and makes a mess !
