Hi there
I am having problems programming with my HP-488-00-3 board it was working fine then suddenly stopped working one thing i have noticed is that the voltage at pin 1 MCLR/VPP is 10. 5V is this right i have seen that it should be 13V

No problem.
What chip are you trying to program?
If its not 16F88 has that been removed first?
Has it worked previously with the chip your trying to program, or are you trying with a different chip?
Can you give more information please. E.g any error messages.
Also if not programming 16F88, have to still got that chip handy so you can use it to test programming?

The chip I’m using is a 16F886, yes I have programmed lots of these chip but for some reason it has stopped programming it tells me it cannot identify the onboard chip

I have had this lots of times some how the chip has got corrupt. The only thing is a new pic there is no problem with the programer.

Hi again i still have this problem could the PPP firmware PIC be damaged?? If so am I able to obtain another one

Hi
The PPP control chip on the HP488 is socketed so it is a simple job to change it.
I suggest you PM Benj and ask about supplying a replacement chip.

Hi Brian,
If it was me before replacing firmware I would try a known good microcontroller that always programmes. e.g 16F88 or 16F877a
Or a different one you may have lying around.

Since it part of the 16F886 family.
Perhaps Staff at Matrix can say if issue is with 16F887 only or applies to other devices within the same family?
