Connecting the Wireless RF component

Post by Dave Squibb »

Hi, I'm trying to build a "simple" rf link ising the V5 Wireless RF component. I understand this is compatible with the RF Solutions Ltd Alpha transceiver modules (as used on the EB063 Eblock).
The Flowcode RF component has connections FSEL, CS, SDO, SDI and SKC.
I understand that SDO, SDI and SCK are the SPI interface and guess that CS is chip select?
The alpha modue has nSEL (which it says is chip select). That leaves FSEL. The module data sheet pins are below.

Pin definition Type Function
11 nINT/VDI DI/ DO Interrupt input (active low)/Valid data indicator
9 VDD S Positive power supply
12 SDI DI SPI data input
13 SCK DI SPI clock input
8 ANT IN Antenna Connection
1 SDO DO Serial data output with bus hold
2 nIRQ DO Interrupts request output(active low)
3 FSK/DATA/nFFS DI/DO/DI Transmit FSK data input/ Received data output
(FIFO not used)/ FIFO select
4 DCLK/CFIL/FFIT DO/AIO/DO
Clock output (no FIFO )/ external filter
capacitor(analog mode)/ FIFO interrupts(active
high)when FIFO level set to 1, FIFO empty
interruption can be achieved
5 CLK DO Clock output for external microcontroller
6 nRES DIO Reset Input (active low)
7, 10 GND S Power ground
14 nSEL DI Chip select (active low)

Any ideas on FSEL please?

I am hoping to test this using John Crow's programs on this page.

Any help appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Hello Dave,

The EB063 datasheet should help as it has the schematic we use.

There should also be an example of setting up a RF link here. I remember that the chips have lots of settings and you have to get all the settings right before you can get stable RF communications up and running.

Let us know how your getting on.
