8" TFT display, RA8875 chip

Post by hyperion007 »

Looking at the datasheet for the RA8875 it looks to be plenty of nice features, like commands for drawing different graphics/shapes etc. Should make it easier to create a powerful display component and it should make it quite useful for 8 bit MCUs.

I'm liking the big size of the display and the resolution. It will make it very easy for me to display a lot of information/variables at the same time. I would love to see a component for this with as many macro functions as possible :) Since I will use it for text and some simple graphics I could like to see the use of I2C or 3 wire SPI but it would be nice to have option to use the other interfaces as well if it's not too much trouble.

Ben, what do you think? :)

Hi

Have you looked at the 7" display form 4D Systems.
I think it should work with the same Visi macros that are in Flowcode 6 for the 3.5 and 4.3 displays.
I been using these quite a bit recently
Although this one looks to be a lot less expensive than the 4D 7 inch one.
1 in 10 people understand binary, the other one doesn't !

I have seen the 4D displays but the price is kind of keeping me from going down that road.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks very promising but also rather complicated so not sure how much we would be able to tick off. Certainly I will get it on my list and give it a go.

Would you be willing to purchase and send us a display to use to develop the component and keep our costs down? This certainly helps to speed things up for me as I can then test as I go along and maybe even do it in my spare time as a hobby rather than official Matrix work. We would then return the display back to you once the work is completed.

If we can't support all the functionality then I might make a bare bones working system and then release the component source so it can be taken further by the user and add the specifics they need the display to do.

Sure I can do that.

I think it would be a nice display for simple graphics and text without having to use 16 bit parallel interface and use up a bunch of IO pins.
I'll have it sent directly to you once I order it.

Thanks.

Color 8 "LCD Module TFT Display
I also wish to 8 "LCD Module could be used with Flowcode.
And use LCD with I2C.
Where would we be able to build some fine menu.
How far is ready to go, so flowdode also use larger LCD Modules, as below
