Hello,

The save button in the compiler options window saves data to the Windows registry. I think the "local user" branch of the registry so admin permissions should not be required.

Are you using any Registry helper software?

Alternatively are you using any system helper software such as System Mechanic.

If you are then beware, these sorts of software tailor to the average Windows user who uses office and maybe send the odd email. More advanced programs like compilers will easily become broken to save a few nano second of processing time. In the end they tend to cause more problems then they solve.

v6 does the same thing using the same code so it's strange v6 is ok but v7 is not?

OK I have uninstalled Flowcode 7 and reinstalled stil same problem.
I uninstalled Flowcode 7, deleted the Flowcode 7 directory and went through the registry deleting anything with Flowcode7 or FC_v7 the reinstalled Flowcode 7

and still have the same problem and flowcode 6 still works OK and I can save different compiler options no problem with 6.

Not sure what to try next any ideas??

I can set the paramiters in Flowcode6 and copy the registry entries to flowcode7 and they apear in the list when Flowcode7 is run under compiler options
But it still not work as system comes up with the following error

ERROR: GetShortPathName(): The system cannot find the path specified.
ERROR: Can not launch process: The system cannot find the path specified.

Completed BoostC compilation, return = 255
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode 7\compilers\pic\boostc\boostc_18F.exe reported error code 255

Hello,

The Get Short Path Name error is something we have seen before and relates to the 8.3 filesystem being switched off, maybe by something like the system mechanic software.

This FAQ details the problem and how to solve it.

http://www.matrixtsl.com/faq/index.php? ... artlang=en

However this does not seem to be your problem. It seems you are using v6 compiler options for v7. V7 does not use the boostc compiler which is why Flowcode is reporting it cannot find the path.

The v7 PIC default compiler options are listed here.

Compiler Location: $(appdir)compilers\pic\bin\xc8.exe
Compiler Parameters: --chip=$(chip) "$(target).c" --MSGDISABLE=359,1273,1388

Linker Location: $(appdir)tools\DoNothing\DoNothing.exe
Linker Parameters:

Programmer Location: $(appdir)tools\mLoader\mLoader.exe
Programmer Parameters: -chip $(chip:u) "$(outdir)$(target).hex"

I tried Version 6 settings in registry to see if they show up in Compiler options which they do, This was a trial to see if version 7 was using the registry which it is.
However both copies one on my desktop and one on my laptop both freeze when save icon is pressed.

http://www.matrixtsl.com/faq/index.php? ... artlang=en

I have tried the above to no avail. both systems still freeze.

Flowcode 7 uses about 20% of processor use before and after it freezes, I can only exit by use of task manager.

Sorry for delay I am on holiday at the moment.

Hello,

When the freeze happens, try clicking off the Flowcode window, e.g. on the windows task bar or on another running program. Then switch back to Flowcode and the problem should be resolved.

We have recorded this problem and will investigate what's happening. I'm currently trying to work out if there is a way to reliably replicate this as that would make it much easier to fix.

I have the same problem a while ago with a notebook win8 (it's a high end I7 notebook).

While waiting for FC7.3 I use a small computer. On this computer FC7 is working very nice.
