Hello, Benj.
I doed it like You say and FC8 started normally without uninstall and install it.
We'll see how long, though. If I have to do it every time ... this is not a normal program, if the reason is in it.

added later:
FC8 crash again. I run reg-file, who I saved before and problem solved, I sure temporary.
I read this post :
http://www.matrixtsl.com/mmforums/viewt ... 78&t=21531

My problem is the same.
This is big bug in Flowcode 8. Need to be resolved. I can't work.
When FC8 crash, it not save changes.

Hello,

Please see Steve's posts on this topic starting from this one.
http://www.matrixtsl.com/mmforums/viewt ... =25#p98745

If anyone is getting this problem on a regular basis. i.e. over the course of several days or ongoing then please do let us know. We use a lot of the internal Windows libraries such as VC++ and this is now all managed via Windows update and may be being updated behind the scenes. I had this problem several times over the course of a week months ago but since then it has never happened again.

Out of interest are you behind some sort of Windows server with self managed updates?

Flowcode just crashed causing windows to shut down.
My system reported by msinfo32:
Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64bit
Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363
Flowcode would not load until deleted registry.
I have saved the offending registry.
Would it help if I uploaded it?

Hi Martin,

No need to upload the registry as I know what's preventing Flowcode from running. The reason for the initial crash, however, remains a mystery.

I did release (via PM) a special build of Flowcode v8 at the end of Jan to people who were experiencing the problem. This tackles some of the potential causes for the crash, and should allow Flowcode to restart without needing the registry fix. I will discuss here about releasing this as an official patch.

If you or anyone else wants to try this special build then please let me know.

Regards,
Steve.

Hi,

I have the same problem. FlowCode crashes and Windows shuts down. The crash from FlowCode comes randomly if I click something in FlowCode. This I have since I bought V8.

Now I can’t even start FlowCode. The “start” logo is been seen and then it disappears and FlowCode won’t start anymore.

I have just downloaded and reinstalled FlowCode but it doesn’t fix the problem.

Windows 10 Enterprise 64Bit

Frank

UPDATE:

I have again uninstalled FlowCode. The REG key (FlowcodeV8) was still there. I have deleted the REG key and reinstalled FlowCode.

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MatrixTSL\FlowcodeV8\WindowPlacement
For now FlowCode will start. I keep you updated.

Hi Steve,

Thanks. It is still working without any crashes or Windows shutdown. I have opened FC8 many times now.

So it could be a registry problem. Because when I delete the FlowcodeV8 key it is still working after a reinstall. But this is up to you :-)

Regards,

Frank

Hi Frank,
Should not need to reinstall.
Make sure Flowcode is not running then delete registry.

Did a patch go out Steve?
My V8 would regularly and reliably crash needing the registry hack to bring it back if I simply hit the "remove unused variables" button. After a week or so that stopped but t would still crash occasionally - however - since the last crash (07/03/2020) and recovery I now get a "the identity of this website or the integrity of this connection cannot be verified" security squawk whenever I open or save a project

It seams the Security Certificate has expired on 08-03-2020, is it? I hope this will be fixed soon, still forum can be accessed, relief.

Hi all,

We upgraded the site's certificate a few weeks ago, but there seems to be a problem with it when it changed over today. We're looking into it and should rectify it in the next hour or so.

And I hope to have a new installer for Flowcode v8 out later today.

Regards,
Steve.

Hello FC Team,

i have exactly the same Problem like Frank reported here already. I have WIN 10 too and FC8 Prof. Version.

After the crash it is fine just to delete the Reg Key.

Then FC 8 open.

Note!!! If the crash occurs you will be asked to save your FC Project bevor WIN10 will shut down. Don`t save your Project or you will loose the majority of you Marcros.

Hope there will be a fix soon.

By they way I have SCADA to. This is working after the shut down and not affected by the Problem.

I had the same problem on 2nd April 2020.
Finally I understood that the problem is in the corrupted registry.
After I renamed the registry the FC8 has created a new one
and I have never had any problems.

THX Victor,

I will check your solution.

I had the Problem already twice.

I deleted the Reg Key after the first case and installed FC8 again. This was running until yeserday.

Then i deleted yesterday only the Reg Key...

...until now FC8 is running again and there is a new Reg Key again.

As far as I remember the crash happend shortly I was playing with F2 and F3 Zoom Funktion.
Then I selected a decision Icon.....

Hi maharadga,
Steve's post from here
Steve wrote:I think that link for the patch just takes v8.0.x and v8.1.x versions to v8.2.0. This update is essentially a service pack.

To upgrade from v8.2.1 to v8.2.2 you will need the hotfix that is available via the second link in Ben's post.
Steve is referring to the main Flowcode download URL

Ben's post can be found just above it.
