Post by medelec35 »

RS Components are selling this:
PICkit3 + Demoboard.png
(190.16 KiB) Downloaded 11535 times
Part number is:
754-5112
Link:
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/processor ... 4E4F4E4526

You can see the demo board in action here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSEfjhqvgN8

for £33.60 You get a fully working demo board with LCD, RTC, 8 LED's. POT touch sensors (with LEDs) etc that runs on a AAA battery (included), PICkit3 programmer + USB lead for programmer.

The demo board does have software loaded so you can use touch pads, plus see LCD and Analoge channel working etc.

Over time, I will be posting some flowcharts that will allow you to use the functions of demo board.

I have posted this before develping flowcharts just in case this low price if for a limited period only?
So if you want a new PICkit3 best get in as soon as you can :)

Martin

Mine arrived today.
Great value especially as 1 component supplier is asking £46 for the pickit3

I totally agree. board is thin, and light as well.

I also agree with that. It's well worth getting for programmer alone. Demo board is just a bonus lol
I have posted a flowchart that will provide some functions.
E.g showing current time from RTC, swich function and LEDs incrementing + dipsling pot value here:http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... 47&t=11324
But there an issue of freezing when post is activated.
Therefore I have altered flowchart so if shorting link is connected between pins 3 & 4 of ISCP, then pot is effectively disconnected.
Flowchart for 8bit can be found here:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... 47&t=11324

Before you load flowchart, its best to make a backup of original software as it's not write protected.
To enable 8bit pic, two row jumper is connected horizontal and from left pins to middle.
To enable 16bit pic jumper is connected vertical and from left pins to middle.
To enable 32bit pic jumper is connected vertical and from right pins to middle.

Thanks Martin
Yes, thats something that I had thought of, copying the demo files first.
Had noticed one thing, MPLABX does not support the PICKIT2, wasn't sure yesterday if it was a driver problem, but plugged the PICKIT3 in tonight and it works straight out of the box

Not sure if I posted this link before but its a good review of the early PICKIT3, and Microchips (well taken) response to the review.
Worth taking the time to watch both of them

Thanks for that link John, the videos are brilliant!

Good to see that a huge company like Microchip listen to the public and have a sense of humor to boot.

Thanks for the advice but still not working this is how i have set it up
programmer Location to

C:\Program Files\Matrix Multimedia\Flowcode V5\Tools\PICkit3\pk3cmd.exe

The Parameters to
-P%p -F%f.hex -E -M -Y

The external programmer set configuration is ticked

Location is
C:\Program Files\Flowcode\v5\Tools\PPP\PPPv3.exe

I have tried both Parameters
-P%p -F"%f.hex" -E -M -Y"%f.hex"
-cs 2 -chip PIC%p -config

And im still getting Hex file not found return code 1 is there any other suggestions??

Hello,

Are your paths to the Flowcode application correct?

By default flowcode v5 is installed in the following location.
C:\Program Files\Flowcode\v5\Tools\PICkit3\PK3CMD.exe
Or for a 64-bit version of Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Flowcode\v5\Tools\PICkit3\PK3CMD.exe

Hi Brian,
I'm a bit confused.
I can see you're a Flowcode V4 registered user, so I posted link for Pickit and FC4

However paths given are for FC5

Have you got an issue with FC4 or FC5?

Link for Pickit3 & FC5 is:

Have you got any spaces within your file name?
If you have than that will cause a failure to compile.

Instead of spaces you can use underscore.
