Hi Steve,

Release date is pencilled in for the end of the month but is subject to change.

I think we do have pricing worked out but there may be bits i'm missing so I'll wait for the official news to land on this.

Great news, especially the adoption of the XC compiler! Good riddance to Error Code 1 messages.

Is this an upgrade for V6 users, or do we have to repurchase the product?

There will be an upgrade path - this is usually 50% off the full price for v6->v7 upgrades. More information around pricing and upgrades will be available soon.

I am very happy to read about the V7 release coming Specially that MATRIX went the XC compiler way that is great news and looking forward to the PIC32 inclusion :D
if this is really true then I will invest in FC again stopped a bit to use FC because of a number of PIC16F devices not supported in FC

Can you give an indication of which PIC32 devices you will initially support in V7 ? :D

Benj

This looks great I am very happy to see the MZ devices great work,
It is mostly the the new core independent 16F1xxx devices such as PIC16F15xx and 16F16xx they are much more powerful than the generic PIC16F's
my specific ones are the 16F1615 ,16F1508,and 16F1786 ,PIC16F1787 and the 89

Looking forward for the PIC32 I am really happy to see this all from MATRIX :D :D

At the other end of the spectrum, I'm looking forward to a return of FC support for the PIC 10F2xx line, so please ensure that's in place from day 1.

Thanks Ben, that's some list!

In the past, apart from 10F2xx, I've been snookered by lack of support for 12F5xx and 16F5xx chips. Those are in your mega list, so I'm happy for now. :D

Came to my mind, will there be additional discounts if user owns more chippacks and upgrades directly to the v7 version of them? My local distributor has not answered a email about this... Will the upgrading be possible through Elektor or RS-components?

I personally own these v6 area:

AVR
PIC
PIC16
Professional pack

Are there any loyalty bonus discounts or similars available to users that have long or small history with Flowcode? Been here since V5... Some of us from V1? ;)
Ill just keep the good work up!

We're BETA testing at the moment and the plan is to release V7 to the public towards the end of next week.

Upgrades will be available through Elektor and some other partners, and also direct from us. It's a little complicated to explain how the upgrades will work on our site, but basically you will have a discount for each part of Flowcode you want to upgrade to V7. You will be able to upgrade any or all of these to V7, but you don't need to upgrade all at the same time. For example, you might to choose to upgrade the 8-bit PIC and the professional pack now, and then add the upgrade for the AVR and 16-bit PIC later. The discount for upgrading will be available for whenever you want to upgrade, not just on your first purchase.

Will the V7 Beta package be standalone ? That is to say can it be removed without affecting V6 ?

I want to check that long standing issues such as breakpoints have been finally fixed before committing anymore time or money to FC.

We probably won't be releasing the BETA to the public. However, V7 will have a functional free version which will be useful for small projects and for new users to evaluate the product. It is totally independent of Flowcode V6 and you can run both side-by-side without problems.

We're looking into that issue with ICD breakpoints at slower sim speeds and hope to resolve it for the release. Are there other issues you are particularly concerned about? I've reviewed your forum posts and I see we have resolved the other issues you have reported.

That issue is a biggie with me, too. As I've said in relation to it: a key reason for using FC is its simulation capability. For me, it's paramount that simulation work properly in V7.

The breakpoint issues should have been put to bed a long time ago before moving onto more headline grabbing stuff.

Hi Alan

Going on previous releases (I've used from V3) each new version can open files from previous versions, but once opened they will save as the new version, so wont open as the old version again. i.e. open V5 file in V7 and once saved it will be a v7 file and wont open in V5 again. So Make a copy before doing anything with it.
1 in 10 people understand binary, the other one doesn't !
