Hello all.
Inspired by the apparent simplicity of the EB066 component in FCV6, I very recently acquired this GSM module for a time-critical project. The FCV6 component appears to do nothing however (if I'm guessing it right) Looking at the component macro, I assumed I could (1) 'Initialise', (2) 'CheckNetworkStatus' for '1', then (3) 'SendTextMessage'.
I don't have an 877A PIC to-hand as required by the available/precompiled test image, so I imported GSM.fcf to V6 and rebuilt it for a PIC18F4680 I had to-hand. I had to reaffirm the serial RTS but everything else 'looks' OK, and all ports and settings advised in the EB066 followed as per the intended 877A PIC. The project compiled to the PIC without error. The GSM board is fitted with a recently-bought O2 PAYG SIM with text credits.
When I fire it up I get a intermittent and random sequences of 454544545... (etc) on the LCD display (varied length after each reboot) but nothing else, and never any LED activity on the GSM board.
I really need to be able to use this module with FCV6 but I haven't found any working examples for this version and EB066 component - only v5 sending raw AT commands.
Can anyone throw me a few pointers or working V6 sample please - preferably using the V6 EB066 component? Far too many variables with an unfamiliar board and component at the moment, and I desperately need a good point of reference.
Thanks in advance,
Brendan

Hi Brendan
Ive attached a couple of my GPS test programs from FC6.
Don't have time to double check them this morning, but I'm sure they work.
1.)Simple Location Display
2.)Simple Time & Date

Hello John.
Very many thanks for your early reply, though it's the GSM phone (not GPS) EB066-00-2module I'm currently trying to drive.
Easy mistake though - You're not the only one
All the best,
Brendan

Re: FC6 with EB066 - Help request
Hello All.
Thanks to those who stopped by my post.
I can happily confirm that I have the module working in FCV6, using the component call strategy I'd mentioned above.
Notable by its absence was mention of the reset line status, and this was the problem - even with the converted FCV5 demo code. The reset remained low.
I took the reset line high before proceeding with the component calls and it's sending messages without issue, apart from the on-board LED not illuminating at-all throughout
I do get the provided 'success' responses to initialisation and network status enquiries but, interestingly, I'm only getting '255' on the return when successfully sensing messages. You can guess what happened when I sent an SMS inside a 3-second repeat loop, intentionally exiting on '0' (success) and inexplicably only getting '255' in the reply. Maybe a timing thing (?) but all the messages I received at-least confirm it's working
All the best,
Brendan

Ooops Sorry Brenden
Well it was early morning & I was reading an article on GPS at the time.
Anyway that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
