FC7 Compiler XC8 Ver 1.41 to XC8 Ver 1.45

Hi Everyone

I have been looking at upgrading to FC8. Just wanted to compare what's new. However, the first difference I have noticed is that Microchip has a new compiler V1.45.


Q. Why am I not allowed to use this newer version with FC7?

This is the message that I get:- ERROR: Can not launch process: The requested operation requires elevation.

Hello Dave,
when you select the version 1.45 in the "Project Options" I guess you pick up the wrong file. It should point to xc8.exe.
In your log I see "Uninstall-xc8-v1.45.exe".

Yep. I have had a laugh at myself. I’m not going to delete the tread because it serves to everyone, check and check again. I didn’t, as I was in a hurry before my free lecience ran out, to do some bench mark testing between FC7 vs FC8, before upgrading. Well, I’ve upgraded to FC8.

There’s much to like about FC8 but, and I will need to do much more testing, the changes to programming options makes FC8 a much more powerful program development tool. A very positive step forward.
