We beleive there is a way to do this.
However it depends on what you are trying to connect the serial device to.
1) Another MIAC (0V / +12V)
2) A PC or RS232 Device (-12V / +12V)
3) A TTL level RS232 or Serial device (0V / +5V)
Let me know which type of device you are trying to create and hopefully I should be able to help.
If you are using option 2 to interface with a PC then is USB an option for you?

I have type 2) serial device (GSM modem) to get control and send status of the MIAC.
