PIC18F46k80 Could Not ID chip & NOT erased

Post by georgedd »

When attempting to use a PIC 18F46k80 with the EB-006-00-7 Multiprogrammer using an external PSU (13.5v) after a successful compilation and linker/assembler and then after Launching the programmer the Matrix PICmicro Programmer displays "Could Not ID the onboard chip - assuming it is the one specified in the configuration screen, i.e. PIC18F46K80". After "OK"ing this I received "PICmicro has not been erased. Continue?"

(The EB-006-00-7 states: Supported devices: 18F Devices & PIC18F46K20, PIC18F4680 PLUS Flowcode V4 version = v4.5.18.74 includes 18F46K80 therefore I assume the 18F46K80 should work with this setup)

Please help.

Hello,

I'm afraid the EB006 cannot currently reprogram the 18FxxK80 devices. You should be able to reprogram the device by getting a Microchip PICkit and plugging this into the ICSP header on the EB006. Same goes for the 18fxxK22 and the 16F7x7 device families.

Details of how to setup a PICkit programmer within Flowcode are available from here.

Used PICkit 3 and upgraded to Flowcode V5 For PIC.
Now working fine.
Thanks,
George.
