Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available
A new version of Flowcode for PICmicros has been released.
Install version = 1.4.9
Flowcode version = 3.4.7
Release date: 21st April 2008
To download it, see this page:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/Flowcode3a-X.php
A full list of fixes is in the accompanying history file.
To install the latest version of Flowcode over your existing version you will first have to uninstall your existing version via Control Panel -> Add remove programs (Program control in Vista). If your current version is registered then you will not have to re-enter these details. Simply leave them blank and Flowcode will reuse the old details from the previous installation.

Re: Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available PROBLEMS
I did install v3.4.7 on a window 2000 sp4 and found that it needed a UxTheme.dll.
So tryed it on a XP pc it runs ok.
But the RS232 comms on a PIC18f4520 did work on 3.2.2.40 but not on V3.4.7.
Nice to hear that you will release v4 soon.
Thanks
Wayne M

Hello Wayne
Can you say anything more about the RS232 comms on the 18F4520. Do you have a simple program that will demonstrate this problem.

Re: Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available
The latest version of Flowcode will not run on operating systems prior to Windows XP. Sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.
We will retain the previous version as a download so anyone using Win2k and Win98/ME can still use it.

Steve/Ben:
The revision history hints that V3.4.7 has a new AD component but there's no detail. Can you highlight the component features that have changed?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
I can't see what you are referring to. We have not created a new AD component, but we have improved the code behind it for some of the PICmicros.

Steve,
You're right - the reference is to "Changes to ADC_Capture code". Can you illuminate as to what has changed?

Jim,
I think the new code ensures that the states of the digital outputs on the other pins in a port are now maintained when an ADC conversion is performed.

Re: Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available
Thanks Steve. I don't think this has been a problem for me (to date) so I'll probably wait for V4. Something to consider for V4, though, is having the acquisition delay counter track with clock frequency so that the acquisition time can remain (relatively) constant and as small as the specifications allow (for the highest possible reliable repeat conversion speed). Although it isn't too hard to go in and change the controlling values in the fcd file (Ben helped me get that working) it would be nice not to have to do that for every clock frequency one might need to work with.
Thanks too for considering the FP capability as an update to V3. I make light of it but I know it's not a trivial matter. The V3 16 bit integer capability has been a tremendous help, primarily for handling large intermediate sums in signal averaging. FP will really simplify the other processing that I'm struggling with right now without having to do a lot of cumbersome integer manipulation.
I have to ask - are you planning to add any new functions in V4 like square-root?
Regards,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Yes - I hope that we will be able to add lots of FP functions such as square root and even trigonometric functions.

There was a download for this, but I think it got removed (or the link got removed) when we revamped the website recently. I'll ask Ben to reinstate it sometime today.

Re: Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available
Greetings to you from Russia!
Accept my congratulations concerning successful progress of project FlowCode!
Version 2 has seemed to me an amusing toy. Version 3.2.2.4 for PIC has interested me. I wish to get version 3.4.7. In this connection I ask to answer following questions:
1. Whether the program for house (student's) use of restriction contains in functionality in comparison with the professional program?
2. Whether it is possible to expect the discount for version 4 acquisition if earlier to get version 3.4.7?
Yours faithfully. NOPROBLEM.

Re: Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available
The feature list of the different licence types of Flowcode are listed in the datasheet, but from memory the restrictions of the "home" version as as follows:
* non-commercial use only
* limited code size (approx half of the chip is available)
* limited components available (only switches, leds, lcd, 7segs, and a few others)
As I said, this list is from memory, so please check the datasheet for the exact differences.
We will shortly announce the intended pricing structure for Flowcode v4. We will also announce that people buying Flowcode v3 between now and the release date of v4 will qualify for a reduced-cost upgrade to v4. This will effectively mean that there is no advantage for new users to wait for v4 to be released because the price of Flowcode v3 plus the price of the reduced-cost upgrade to v4 will equal the cost of a new version of v4. (I hope that makes sense!).

The new USB pack will be part of v4 (but not the "home" version).

Thanks! Respected steve, you could not present a preliminary report of innovations in v.4. Apparently, they are very considerable!

Since V3.4.7 is not the latest version out, would it be a better idea, to have a sticky, always up-to-date with latest version out + link.Benj wrote:A new version of Flowcode for PICmicros has been released.

Re: Flowcode for PICmicros V3.4.7 is available
Hello
Yes that would be good and I should really stay on top of it, I think I need another me to run around after me doing all the things I dont have time for. We have a system in place now where all the downloads are shown via the main Flowcode page. This then links through to individal download pages on our FAQ site where previous versions can be archived.
So all the latest download versions of Flowcode 3 can be found linked from here. Im afraid you are now asked to provide your email but once you have submitted this you will not be asked again and other parts of the site will become unlocked.
