FC4AVR on Win7 bit-64 ??

Post by vidor »

Hi,

I'm trying to install FC for AVR on Windows 7 64-bit, but no luck.
I've tryed to install with Administrator rights and with Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode, without any success.
I get the "Installation ended prematurely because of an error" error message, nothing else.
Is there any chance to get FC for AVR running on Windows7 64-bit?
Thanks in advance
Vidor

Please try the suggestion here:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... +log#p9837

If the problem persists, then that post also details the procedure for producing a log file of the installation - please post your log file here if the "run as admin" trick does not work.

Hello

I am using Flowcode for AVR succesfully on a Win 7 system.

There is a bit of a problem where the Atmel AVRISP driver does not install correctly unless I turn off driver signing. To do this you have to wait until the end of your BIOS messages on startup and then press F8 a few times when the screen goes black. If you do this correctly then you will be presented with a list of options with Disable Automatic Driver Signing near the bottom.

Once you have done this the driver from the "Flowcode AVR V4/Tools/avrispmkii driver" should install correctly.

Let me know how you get on.

I've just had a look at the log file you sent in. Does Flowcode install correctly? Does it run at all or is even this failing?

Hi,

The installation starts, but never ends. I get the "Installation ended prematurely because of an error" error message, and installation quits.
I tryed to install without drivers, but the I get the same error message.

Vidor

This is the reason that the installation fails:
DIFXAPP: ERROR - You need to use the 64-bit version of DIFXAPP.DLL to install drivers on this machine.
CustomAction MsiProcessDrivers returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
We'll look into this and get back to you, but I do know this installation has been tested on a number of 64-bit PCs.

Actually, I've just thought that you might be trying to install V3 of Flowcode for AVR. In this case, I do believe there is a problem with the installation of the drivers.

To get around this, run the installation of Flowcode, but select "No - do not install the drivers at this time". This should allow the installation to complete. You can then install the drivers manually.

Hi,

Yes, I want to install V3 of Flowcode for AVR. I ran the installation of Flowcode, and I've selected "No - do not install the drivers at this time". I've get the same error. The installation does not go to the end.
I send you the log file from the last installing attempt.

Hello Vidor

I see you are running a 64-bit OS which means your probably running Vista or Win 7. Have you tried right clicking the install file and selecting run as administrator? Then untick the driver option and hopefully you will be able to install correctly.

Let me know how you get on.

Another customer of ours had a similar problem with Flowcode v3 for AVR on an XP x64 PC. The thread is here:
http://www.matrixmultimedia.com/mmforum ... =x64#p7428

Perhaps the issues discussed there may help too.

Hi,

I am sorry about writing this, but I tryed every possible solution by now, without any success.
I tryed even to launch the install by launching "instmsi" files and I get the error message "Wrong OS or OS version for application".
By launching the "instmsi3" I get the error message "This KB893803v2 is for a different hardware platform."
So I do not know what to do. Maybe I have to go back to XP?
Best regards
Vidor

Hello Vidor,

Yes v3 installed fine for me as long as I unticked the driver installer when given the option by the wizard.

Have you tried right-clicking the installation file and selecting "Run as administrator"?

Yes, and I get the same error message.
I tried with compatibility settings too, but no success.
I have no other ideas, I asked even at Microsoft, but they are pointing me to software's developer.

If you create a log of the installation and post it to this forum, we should be able to investigate further. There should be info somewhere in this forum for creating a logfile, such as here:

Hi,

I'm sending the last log file of Flowcode installation.
I have tried everything to install FC4AVR ver.3 but without any success.
It's sad to have a great software but it's not working on Win7.
If I have to go back to Win XP, means that I´m loosing a lot of time, not mentioning the other software (wich don't work on XP) I use.
I hope I get some help to install it on Win7.
Best regards
Vidor

Hello Vidor,

Do you know which version of v3 AVR you are installing. Is it directly from the product cd? It might be worth your while downloading the latest release of v3 AVR and see if that helps. You will still need to untick the driver during the inetallation but hopefully this shouldget you up and running.
