Which Pins Are Used To Program

Post by Darren.Smith »

Good Evening Gentleman, I Have Recently started making my own pcb's and have now decided to use surface mount pic's in doing this i am going to need to make a little board to quickly solder a pic onto so i can wire it into the eb006 programmer to program, which brings me to my question of which pins are actually used during the downloading of code to a pic, i ask this as it would be easier to tack a few pins rather than have to solder all 44, as far as i am aware pins required are vpp pgm and vdd vss, are ther any others????

cheers Dazza

cheers martin, got fed up of drilling 40 1 mm holes to fit a pic so decided to go to surface mount, so much simpler, that link was perfect, will give that a go tomorrow...fingers crossed...

No problem Darren,
I don't blame you for wanting to solder and drill as few wires/holes as possible. I f i was in your shoes, I would be the same.
Glad the link helped.

Thanks for letting us know.

Surface mount is the future :D

Its so much easier to get good looking boards and also quicker to do once you have the knack.

Great tutorial available free from here.

totally agree ben, they are already starting to phase out the older dil type ic's and replacing them with surface mount only, a bit of a pain for older designs but much easier to work with in the long run, i am surprised matrix does not do a plug in board for the eb006 programmer to take the new surface mount devices.....
