Hi
Is there any plans to add a microstepping component for stepper motors?
I have a project that needs it and have blown up a few dedicated motor controllers and drivers trying to get microstepping working.
If anyone has any experience of doing this that can help I would be most appreciative it's getting expensive and short of time to have something working...
Many Thanks
Gypo

Steve
Thanks for the replies and links,
Have you actually made use of any of the stepper motor chips?
I have one of the Allegros chips (A3972SB Farnell 145-7114) that I am going to try and expect to have others soon.
I have a few other makes of motor control/driver chips that don't seem easy to get going.
I have tried some chips & circuits including a few from Microchips site but none seem to work and I don't have the facilities to find out why.
The microchip site talks round the subject and doesn't give working examples.
I was after a simple way to microstep a stepper motor (in fact there will be 500+ motors) I had hoped I'd only need to use direction and step commands. I have to do a lot more other work for this and thought the motor side of things would be quick and easy (which I think it would be if I didn't need to microstep) but the motor driving is taking all my time and I don't seem to be getting anywhere.
Thanks again

Hello Gypo,
sorry no i have not used one of those drivers - dont forget that that you need at least two.

Re: Microstepping Stepper Motors
Hello,
The are micro stepping drivers on my reprap controller PCB I'll have a look for the part number.
This page from the Reprap wiki looks quite good.
