I have tried two random 16 bit devices:
PIC24EP256MC202
&
PIC24EP256GP202
Both have UART RX shown as Unconnected with both Channel 1 and Channel 2, so will not compile.

Hi Martin,
I beleive these devices have remap pin properties available for you to specify the RX and TX pins? Though I could be wrong

Re: UART 16Bit Devices
Hi Ben,
Yes they do but there appears to be a bug with the remapping side which is causing the confusion: Unable to select a mapping pin (And is black to start with) until you select map Pin then it shows blank white box, then if click anywhere else within properties a remap pin appears.
Then you have to select the remapping pin.
The easiest way to see the bug as it does not always happen is select software choose unconnected, then select a channel.
I have just discovered that after posting so did not believe I could even select a pin until now.
