Currently the UK is the ninth largest manufacturing nation, employing almost 3 million people.

This has grown significantly in the past two years due to COVID. While the pandemic had a terrible impact on overseas business, shipping and availability, people looked to UK businesses to be able to fulfil their needs increasing production on UK soil.

This is great news for UK businesses but why is it important to look for products manufactured in the UK?

UK based manufacturers who see the importance of working with UK suppliers, offer products with a lower turnaround, higher quality and with a low carbon footprint. Customers who receive high quality products with a low turnaround and unlikely to go and look for a cheaper alternative that takes weeks to ship!

The governments 25 year plan, means that all businesses in the UK are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint, so buying UK made products is only going to become more popular. This means that it’s more important than ever to be able to show that your product and its components have been sourced and manufactured in the UK. This means that parts have travelled a lesser distance to get to manufacturers, spending less time on the road and in turn are less likely to have damages.

There is also an importance in the UK to “support local” where possible. This means looking at a local supplier first, to boost local and UK economy before outsourcing. There will always be a time and a place for international trade but at Matrix, we will always look local and support UK trade where possible.
