The pilot-pilot valve allows the air supply to be directed to one of two destinations under the control of air pressure from other parts of the circuit – for example, the extend and retract ports of a double action cylinder.
The valve has a latching action. When a pilot input is pressurised, the valve selects the destination, and this setting is remembered even if the pilot pressure is then removed.
Exhaust restrictors allow cylinder speed to be controlled by limiting the rate at which air is vented from the unselected port.
