Automatics Overview
Automatics is a product range designed for teaching and learning about pneumatic and automation systems in classrooms. The components are the same as those used by engineers but adapted for quick, tool-free assembly by students.
The range includes industry standard components, each on a clear acrylic carrier marked with relevant symbols. Students use plastic ‘tee’ bolts and nylon tubing to build working pneumatic circuits on a stable aluminium platform.

Automatics Solutions
Automatics solutions fit into many different disciplines as they can be used to teach Technology, Basic engineering and Mechanical engineering. Solutions are packed in rugged plastic trays and include power supplies where necessary and generous quantities of ‘consumables’ such as pneumatic tubing and fixings. Add-on packs are also available that are designed to extend the features of your core solution and all solutions are supplied with a full and comprehensive curriculum.
Automatics in Industry
Now available is the Automatics PLC adaptor rail, meaning that the Automatics range can be used with any PLC. The adaptor rail allows PLCs to connect to relay and motor outputs using standard 4mm connectors which connect directly to other Automatics components. Any programming language, including ladder logic, can be used.Â
PLC adaptor modules available are power distribution, inputs, motor outputs and relays.
Automatics Solutions
In addition to individual carriers, we offer three curriculum support solutions: the Automatics essentials solution and two add-on kits.
The control add-on kit, for example, allows students to advance from basic pneumatics to programmable control applications using pre-programmed items like the MIAC controller.
These solutions provide a core set of components that can be expanded with specialist parts as needed. An air compressor and conditioning unit are not included as standard, but we offer one on our components page.
